Pritch's injury was from the Euro's in the summer, took a bad knock and then I presume our medical staff gave him the all clear a few weeks into the season but after that sub appearance against Everton I'm guessing that it's aggravated it more which then required the surgery. Real bummer as he was pretty much nailed on to be the next break out star. If he's only going to be returning in January, it'll be more beneficial for him if he goes out on loan, right now breaking through into this side is going to be tough, let alone doing so after a long injury where match fitness needs to be built up as well. Is N'jie actually injured does anyone know? I'm curious as to whether he has got a knock or if Poch feels he still has some work to do before getting more minutes. He was injured over the summer so that didn't help and he's blown hot and cold in his small appearances to date, the City assist being his highlight so far.
The date is when he is due back (is often wrong mind). I don't know how long the "very doubtful" has been there?
There's going to be rotation / resting of players pretty soon I reckon, possibly straight after the Chelsea game. I was going to do an article on that actually. Reckon Pritch will have a part to play when he comes back.
"Very doubtful" is under the heading of "next game ?" or similar. To me, it's saying he's targetted to be back by thursday, but is "very doubtful" ? If he makes it though, then great.
I'd work backward from who will start versus Chelsea. Leave them all at home except Alderweireld and, I guess, Lloris, and you have Trippier, sorry Toby, Wimmer, Davies, Carroll, Winks,Townsend, Alli, sorry Ryan and Onomah, God knows who we have on the bench beside Fazio. I'd love to have Clinton for this one, but for some reason I think he's injured.
I'm not sure if he's injured, but I think we maybe underestimate sometimes just how long it can take a player from another league to get up to speed physically for life in the Premiership. Then, of course, there's the intensity of the system that M.P. uses to get fit enough for.
He is injured sann. Had surgery on his ankle. Out til the new year. Very confident he can step up on his comeback. Remember this kid used to be the one who made he development side that had mason, kane, carroll, townsend etc tick.
The official Twitter page has posted pictures of several players who are traveling. Kane and Dier to mention two.
Right. That's that then. Booking myself on the next flight to Baku to bring them both back. Absolute shambles.
Great. Would you mind grabbing Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Dembélé, Vertonghen, Walker, Rose, and, what the hell, Lloris and Alderweireld too, while you’re at it? And Pochettino. What do we have assistant coaches for, if not Qarabag away 2 1/2 days before Chelsea? No one will ever go from genius to idiot faster than Pochettino if Kane gets injured in Qarabag.
I remain a very strong supporter of Pochettino but the wisdom of taking Harry Kane escapes me. Kane played both internationals recently on top of every Premier League game this season and the U21 tournament in the summer and without him for any time we are royally screwed. He's wearing heavy strapping on his thigh. I bet the pitch looks like a ploughed field too. Harry needs using judiciously. A fit Harry is going to give Chelsea's defence nightmares and we've done this but left Walker, Rose, Dembele and Lamela at home (E Standard website). Why Mauricio? Why? If he gets injured before the transfer window then any striker we may bid on is going to cost double as our desperation will be obvious to all. Please keep him on the bench and don't let's risk him, no matter what the outcome!! Mystified of South London
I haven't seen a single fan who has commented anywhere stating that they want any of the "first 11" to play. Surely Poch's thinking cannot be any different? It just makes sense to rest as many as possible. Hopefully the "first teamers" who have travelled are just going to make the numbers up on the bench.
please log in to view this image - http://spurs.to/MauricioPreQarabag I'm not sure he's had his own way on this, I may be wrong but my impression is that others in the club have said this game is more important than perhaps MP feels. Any thoughts?
I would actually take 14 at least of the squad. Its all very well putting out the 11 weakest squad players we have and piling the bench full of youth players but that isn't going to get the job done and nor is it the best way of keeping the fantastic spirit we have in the team. Rotating a few players out is a much better option. We've got three players out injured I think of about 25 in the squad so I would take 15 or 16 so that we've got a full team and 4-5 subs who can come on and change the game if necessary. And use it to give 2-3 youth players experience of being on the bench. We really don't want to be in the position of having a bench full of debutants who are under pressure to perform if someone gets an injury early on. Vorm, Trippier, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Davies, Carroll, Mason, Alli, Onomah, Townsend, Son would be my team with Lloris, Fazio, Vertonghen, Winks, Kane, Eriksen, Harrison on the bench
Vorm Trippier, Carter-Vickers, Wimmer, Davies Mason, Winks Onomah, Alli, Townsend Son Mason and Son are coming back from injury so I think a run out would do them good but no point risking any of the others likely to start imo.
