We must have bumped into each other in the past, chuck the Wolsey and the Harbour View in there and you have me surrounded.
Harbour view yes ( the ale drinkwrs on here would like it) not so much the wolsey. The Cliff is the closet for me. Oh i forgot also the royal marine on sea rd.
The Wolsey's a cracking pub & the landlord is a great bloke. Always takes the time to speak to his customers. They've done away with the car park & turned it into a beer garden. It's lovely sitting out there in the summer.
The very same. been my watering hole for 16 years. Seen a lot of changes, a lot of coming and going and lost a few friends along the way. I'll post proper pictures when I'm on my laptop
Its a decent pub and within easy walking distance. I could go to other pubs but including taxi fares its not financially viable and Veltins is my favourite tipple
Been there a few times, my parents lived in Cockerton for 10-12 years. Mostly drank in the Brown Trout (in Cockerton itself) but when we went into Darlington the Turks is pretty much the first pub we hit coming in - wasn't sure as in my mind it's on a corner off a roundabout? We once went on a pub crawl and there's some decent places in Darlo (better than I had been expecting) though we went to the Golden Cock (purely for the novelty of the name) but got the feeling it may be a gay bar (not that there's anything wrong with that but just not my scene) when a camp guy came over and asked us if we wanted to take part in the "Big Yellow Banana Kareoke".
Aye mate its on the corner. No pubs are gay in Darlington now, everywhere is 'gay friendly'. Monday night is gay night and the golden cock does feature heavily on that night and os a week round favorite for that comunity. The trout was gay friendly and was a big out of the centre venue. That was when Della the Fella had it. It's now closed down.
yes mate sawdust on the floor to hid the blood, there's a fight every night. and a big sign on the door, if you dont speak English or Amsterdam's **** off your not welcome. and they mean it.
It's because it's a one club town. They got Monday. Thursday got hiphop and r&b thpugh they may have stopped that, Friday got indie night. Saturday dance. The club set their agenda while the bars follow suit to set their night according to the type of clientele who would be going to the club. Most bars do what they want now givinh the town more varitity but the Monday gay thing has stuck because bless em they can't seem to handle change.
I'm a Cockerton lad and the 'Trout' was both mine and my wife's local from '86 onwards. In fact I've got a Brown Trout sign in my house as a momento When were you a regular ?
