You'd have to think Ashley will be looking at his set up right now and the penny is finally dropping that either his transfer policy is wrong and/or the people he has put in charge of his asset are not competent. Just look at the money that's been wasted.

    Cabella £10m
    Thauvin £13m
    Rivierre £6m
    Mitrovic £13m
    Anita £6m
    Gouffran £2m
    De Jong £6m
    Yanga Mbiwa £8m

The list just goes on and on. Tbh if Ashley doesn't change either the strategy or the people picking and signing the players in the short term then he is blind to the reality of the situation and we are ****ed in the long term.

    I think Anita was 8m.

I think Mitro will come good. Might be in the championship though <laugh>

I wouldn't consider him a waste of money. It's hard to score goals if you don't create the chances. He's a striker that needs that.
The others - A complete waste of money. Cabella, Riviere, Thauvin and Mbiwa all recommended by Graham Carr. A combined total of £37 million. He should be sacked for that alone.

Agree that it's far too early to be calling Mitrovic a waste of money. The problem we have up front is that we have two kids playing who are still learning their game. Both Mitro and Perez (who despite scoring against Bournemouth has played **** by his own standards in the last two games) should have a more experienced head to be learning from and playing alongside or competing with for places. Youngsters will go through bad patches. Usually you can drop them to the bench and put an arm around them to help them get their form back. We don't have that luxury as the only alternative is Cisse who is offside even when he's on the bench.

As for Thauvin, and even Cabella, they are the sort of players to use in a team that is playing well. They offer something different and creative when given the time to learn the league. Being in a struggling team doesn't give them the time or space to learn how their game can fit into a new league as they don't have the freedom to play their natural games. Not arguing that either showed anything to disprove that they could add anything to the team - but the situation they found themselves in hasn't helped.

On a serious note I have high hopes for Mitro AND Thauvin and Chancel looks a class act along with Gini.
Despite the duds... Carr will dine off the combined fees of Debuchy and Cabaye (£30m) for a while yet.
We would have been better off bringing in 3 of those... plus 3 British players with a bit of bite to them to help bring a bit of stability/backbone.
The likes of Ings, Austin, Shawcross, Snodgrass, Huddlestone, Sinclair, Richards would have been realistic additions in the summer and given us a bit more in the dressing room also.

    Agree with this.
In what universe do people like Ashley, Charnley and Carr live. You cannot keep signing a bunch of unknowns and hope to remain competitive. Carr especially needs to **** off with this French fascination. The players he has identified have largely been dogshit.
