Like you say the Turks don't piss fart about but I doubt they have the military might to take the Russians on head on.
If they've got both they might have killed one and using one as a bargaining tool. Either way it's bad news.
If this news statement is true- 'It is fairly obvious from the track that the plane was operating against Turkish sponsored Turkmen rebels inside Syria, and that is why the Turks shot it down'
Well London isn't just about high beer prices. Lets just say its a target-rich environment for developing international relationships
Nato meeting later today - At the request of Turkey, the North Atlantic Council will hold an extraordinary meeting at 17.00 (Brussels time). The aim of this extraordinary NAC meeting is for Turkey to inform allies about the downing of a Russian airplane. Nato is monitoring the situation closely. We are in close contact with Turkish authorities. reckon what Putin says and does today will determine any escalation
A Syrian rebel group says one of the Russian pilots who ejected from his downed warplane was dead on landing. AP quotes Jahed Ahmad of the 10th Brigade in the Coast as saying the two Russian crew members had tried to parachute into a government-held area after they ejected, but came under fire from members of his group. Earlier, Reuters reported it had seen video from a rebel group that appeared to show one of the pilots immobile and badly wounded on the ground.
Putin describes the incident as 'stab in the back, carried out by the accomplices of terrorists' and warns Turkey of 'significant consequences'
Depends which rebels mate, they don't arm them all. It's mainly the Kurds and the Iraqi army, I don't believe the plane came down anywhere near where either of them are. I actually hate Turkey with a passion and on a personal note would love to see Putin bomb Turkey into oblivion but obviously if that happens then everybody gets dragged into it.
Nothing will happen on a military level, it'll just crank up political tension. Putin will probably just put Turkey's gas price up 'til the turks reimburse them for that plane or something.
It now looks like Turkey have been telling porkies regarding shooting this plane down in order to draw NATO into their feud with Russia over Kurdish groups within Turkey..It appears that the plane was brought down by Syrian rebels operating on the Syrian side of the border.
There's this one, born and bred in Finners: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/kurdish-pop-star-helly-luv-makes-provocative-video-mocking-isis-1510480
That would be odd, owning up to shooting a plane down. Most countries tend to deny everything first. The Turks have been warning the Russians about not attacking the ethnic turks over the border ever since they went in. If it wasn't a Turkish plane or missile, it could have been a missile supplied to the Turkmen to defend themselves from the Syrians and Russian aircraft.
