    Vaniteaux looked terrific there.

Fighting Fifth looks like a reasonably exciting race this weekend.

What a super front running ride from David Noonan on Lady Of Longstone. Very definitely worth every pound of his claim, think Nass flagged him up the other week!

If he keeps his current run of form up Mr Noonan will soon earn himself the title of, ‘the forum’s second favourite Corinthian’.

Vaniteux beats Supreme Novice 5th further than Douvan did.

Been looking and I cant seem to find one Supreme Novice winner who went on to win the Arkle. I know plenty would have went for the Champion Hurdle but expected there must have been some at least who won the Arkle even a year after going for the Champion Hurdle.

Just from the last few years, Menorah, Al Ferof, Noland and Champagne Fever have all run and got beaten in the Arkle.

If Douvan runs in this years that will be 5 of the last 10 Supreme winners to run in the Arkle, suggesting plenty more have probably tried over the years.

Had to dig out an old system Joe. If it still works then:

    Won the Cheltenham Supreme

1961 Greektown won Arkle Chase 1964 Michael Scudamore

1964 Flyingbolt won Arkle Chase 1965 Pat Taaffe

Yip, both confirmed on Wikipedia, didnt look through pre 1972 as there is 2 recorded winners of the Supreme every year before that?

Vaniteux cut from 20s to 12s for the Arkle.Looks a nice Ew bet after todays performance.Granted Douvan is a serious contender the stats pointed out by DK abovebsuggests this could be one of Willie's hotpots which might be turned over.

Didn't spot that. In those days, when it was known as the Gloucestershire Hurdle it was run in 2 or 3 Divisions and Vincent O'Brien recorded ten victories in the race during an eight-year spell in the 1950s. Good old Wiki

Just another stat for Mullins to rip up and discard.

BTW Vaniteux beat Qewy a whole 3/4 of a length more today over fences than Douvan did over hurdles! Qewy's a Ferguson horse, so he's bound to have improved hugely for fences...no, not really <doh>

Thistlecrack is entered in the long distance hurdle at Newbury on Saturday, indicating they want to see if they have a World Hurdle horse on their hands before deciding on novice chasing. Hills still go 25s for him about the World Hurdle - that will come tumbling down if he wins Saturday.

Vanituex has absolutely dismantled the Supreme form on the snaff, worrying times for Mullins clonmel superstar backers.

The 10/15 minute period of Sprinter looking a beast again and the defeat of Faugheen caused a magnitude of excitement the Flat couldn't muster in a 4 month period!
