Oh, and I need to add this. I have a (so far as I know) unique way of building sandcastles. I just think this pair look cool. please log in to view this image Vin
Anyone seen "The Man in the High Castle"? I started watching it at the weekend (too cold to go out after the Saints game) and I think it's a brilliant concept and a very interesting programme.
No Dave, but I may follow it. When I heard about it the other week it immediately reminded me of "Fatherland" an absolutely brilliant read by Robert Harris. This is set in 1964 (I think) as if Hitler had won the war. If you want to read it, I'll bring it to a game. It is either on the shelf or in the loft. Highly, highly recommended.
Yep it's average. The bad guys in it are ****. Batista is good in it but says nothing and lasts 10mins. And Craig looks tired of doing Bond.
I posted on the other page. Yep it is great so far. I am watching in 4k as well so it looks stunning.
Spoiler I thought it was far too predictable. It was obvious to me from fairly early on that C was in league with the bad guys.
Yep you are right. It was back to the old Bond films for me. Instead of staying how Casino Royale was, they decided to go back to Bond is invincible stuff. Bond killing a guy then going to his funeral then ****ing the widow was weird as hell.
Love The Detectorists, it's brilliantly written and acted (Toby Jones is superb, as usual), with quirky but believable, typically English characters. The humour is subtle and very funny. Here is my favourite bit from last week's episode... Andy: "What you got?" Lance: "Some sort of brooch, nice condition, it's got the enamelling and the original pin on the back" Andy : "Yeah?" Lance : "Yeah" Lance:"Hang on, there's an inscription, in Latin" (excitedly) Andy:"What's it say?" Lance "Status Quo"...
The guys at work said it wasn't good ,just like dreadful sorry skyfall.......will be giving this film a very wide berth.
Sorry disagree there Tom, I remember on Facebook there was a poll on bond films, and skyfall was second bottom with thunderball being voted the worst.
I've got that on audiobook, (i'm a lazy reader!), haven't got around to listening to it, but have heard good things about it from friends.
We are all different Tom I thought skyfall was crap but and I really enjoyed Interstellar but a mate at work says it's the worst film he has seen in years.
Sorry, Beef - I couldn't be bothered to go back over the posts I'd missed ..... Watched 4 episodes now - enjoying it. I don't have a telly (well, I do, but it's a long story) so I watch it on a laptop. Not quite the same .......
As you say, the humour is subtle, and even so I find that I burst out laughing at some of the stuff, because it is so sharp and true. What still amazes me is that absolutely nothing happens yet the half-hour whizzes by. Mackenzie Crook writes, directs and co-stars [Andy] and that's some achievement. He and Toby Jones are excellent. I love the silly interchanges with Simon and Garfunkel.
I thought of you and your 4K TV today as I noticed Black Friday is on the horizon. That's one year you've been with that LG. I take it you'd recommend it.? How about a review.?
