Spanish I totally agree with you re the back 5 - I haven't seen us since Man Utd but the young lad ( name escapes me ) we've loaned to Crawley was class that day.

    Yorwerth?....

I watched the U21 game the other day and IMO Kenlock and Emanual need to go out on loan at a lower league team certainly not ready for first team football here.

Well they struggled against Brentfords U21s.....Kenlock especially was out of position, poor control and poor passing...IMO.

Emmanuel didn't impress......not seen Marlarky play yet.........but I do think Yorwerth will be a good player for us fairly soon I believe he is performing well at Crawley.

I suppose if they don't stand out in the lower league that could signal the end....although I think that first team regular T.Smith had a few spells out on loan in his development.

I agree with Spanish here. If you don't/wont give Youth a chance....perhaps 2-3 games on the trot, how can they develop their game? It is blindingly obvious to most that our defense needs fresh blood.

Cant agree with Warky.....our season aint over by a long chalk. Our midfield and forwards playing well...and still 2-3 to come back. I think Warky is having an 'off' period...give us some sparks, yer old humour JWM! We all get pissed off at times with dear old ITFC, and thankfully have other other interests - one of mine is traditional old boats, but its in our blood!

I'm not saying I'm against playing youngsters if they are good enough.....IMO going out on loan is the chance to develop their game with competitive football and prove they can be consistently good enough, I would class K'nudsen as a youngster so I give him a bit of a break as he he still developing and also learning the English game.

Many on here including myself were holding high hopes of young Marriot but he has hardly been a revelation at Luton, I think we have done pretty well with players from the youth set up over the last few years with Hyam and Bishop making the first team.

Morning lads, I've been away in Lanzarote the past week, so I was desperately checking the Beeb updates on a temperamental Wifi courtesy of a Scottish bar for this match.

With regards to the youth debate, I always think it is worth giving youngsters the minutes to impress and to develop consistency and match fitness. Obviously we end up releasing more youngsters than retaining, and that's applicable at almost every professional football club in this country. We have been blessed with some quality footballers over the past decades who have been developed from the academy, and I'd argue with the likes of Hyam and Bishop (with Rhodes, Wickham, and Mings in the past), we have developed some good players over the past four/five years.

As for the play-off argument, we're only three points off sixth and we're clearly still in the running as we're only in November. However, I am concerned with the gap building between us and the 'top five' of Hull, Brighton, Middlesbrough, Derby, and Burnley. All five have invested wisely and when you consider we have reinvigorated sides like Birmingham, Reading, and Sheffield Wednesday competing for sixth, not to mention Cardiff, Blackburn, Fulham, and Brentford notching some good results recently, then it's clearly going to be a battle.

Depending on who we bring in/who we retain in January, I currently predict we'll finish around 8th or 9th this season, several points off the play-offs.

Get Bart back in goal, get the injured lads fit and ready to play, invest in some quality defenders, and then we have a team to challenge for the a play off spot, and of course depending on his recovery we could have Varney as well.

Kundsen may be young and learning the game but needs to up it frankly.

Based on what I saw at Man Utd Yowerth deserved a chance.

I think most of us feel Knudsens not up to Championship level yet, his long throws never trouble the opposition defence in fact they are usually cleared by the first defender, hes very slow and often gets beaten in a race for the ball leading to him pulling a player back and giving away a free kick, and positionally hes very poor.
Promote a youngster or buy some quality? Neither I think it will be more of the same.
