Wow! Just shows how we all see things differently, probably depending on where we watch,in the end I wanted someone to go and get the ball off of big Vic as IMO he wouldn't have even passed wind correctly yesterday
Valuable lessons have to be learned here. NEVER TRY AND START A MATCH THREAD WHEN THE PERSON WHO HAS BEEN DOING THEM IS ON A ROLL.
Will never like Hughes after he complained (when playing for us) to the bench about MLT coming on as sub. His comment was something along the lines of 'f****** hell, now we're playing with 10 men...'
I have a friend, in Spain, who is from Stoke, who messaged me with a gloating comment ending with the patronising "never mind", so it's not just Hughes that lacks grace. If my mate is anything to go by, they still carry a massive chip from their days under Pulis (DONT MENTION THE P WORD). I was very gracious in defeat, admitting that they were worthy winners, but he couldn't reciprocate in victory, which was a shame. So, I mentioned the P word, a few times, and he got rather wound up by it, especially when I said that although we couldn't score, we did have chances that we wouldn't have had against a Pulis defence.
Mason, other than the penalty, made some other strange decisions. On one occasion, VVD had the ball, under no pressure, he passed it to Fonte, also under no pressure, then the ref blew the whistle and stopped the game for an offside decision, resulting in the ball going back to VVD, who then passed the free kick back to Fonte. No need to stop the game at all. Second half, Long jumped for the ball, a Stoke player doubled over, the ref whistled. No hand signals, so Saints grabbed the ball, Stoke defenders backed off, then the ref, who had walked 20 metres over to the ball, decided he was giving a free kick to Stoke, for a push, and not a free kick to us, for making a back, something the Stoke team seemed to have accepted. In a world of his own self importance, I reckon.
Oh well. Stoke are great on the road (not conceded away since Arsenal in the 5th game of the season) and Sadio didn't start. We really needed to grab the first goal, as they don't tend to score often (five in last six) but we didn't. When they scored early on, it was inevitable they'd sit behind the ball and attempt to frustrate us. Their plan worked, and we weren't at our best. On to the Etihad!
Just dawned on me how far we have come. A poor home defeat against Stoke and hardly anyone is into wrist slashing (admittedly I have not ventured on to Saints web). Why? Because we know that we will quickly bounce back from this and continue our march up the table. Everyone has a bad result now and again. The key is to move on. A win against Man City will easily erase this memory.
*shakes head* Send your email off to the Premier League Tom. Get them to cancel the game now. What's the point? I wonder how many people thought the mighty Liverpool would beat City?
I don't think anyone called it a good chance. You say 'we won't beat City' as if the probability of us beating them is 0%. It's not. It's about 10%.
Oh and the ref was absolutely ****. The ref is the reason we lost as far as I'm concerned. I'd love a review system in football so **** refs can't make so much of a difference.
