What a **** up UEFA have made of this, loads more games to play & little to gain from it.

 

They need to reduce the amount of teams in it and remove the group stages. A simple knock-out format like the FA Cup and League cup etc, will do.

It would certainly be worth playing in it still but you need a big squad to be able to cope with it, something most teams haven't got apart from the big 5 and maybe Spurs and Everton.

I'd take 6th over 5th, but I'd take winning a Cup over not winning one. Europa seems like a punishment doesn't it?

 

Yeah it used to be it, I would stop the Champions League clubs dropping into it when they finish 3rd in the Champions League as well. It gives an unfair advantage and is another reason clubs don't give it maximum effort as they just expect to get beat later on anyways when the big clubs come enter. Once you are put out that should be it, you're out.

But they will be though. Every club will aim as high as possible anyway, regardless of fans view on Europa, but I'm not going to pretend the pros out way the cons as I don't think they do. The argument is profile raising but that would only kick in off the back of a successful group campaign imo by which time that fifth placed team has had about 8 weeks of double games

Its just a poor mans champions league as it is and detrimental to many teams in it.

Look at West Ham flying after basically not trying to qualify for the ggroup stages.

It is a poisioned chalice , the championship is full of clubs that have drank from it. A straight up, knock out competition with no second chance entrants, would be my shout, otherwise keep out of it until you are well and truly prepared.
