With Leicester and Swansea and a few others monitoring it...I don't think that's put it to bed. I think there'll be bids
No swans fan in their right mind would not want Whitts, but I think most of us would agree he'd cost more than we wanted to pay.
i have said this many times that whitts was the only player from cardiff's team last season that i would have in the swans side, ....he is worth a lot more than £1.5 million, that is a joke amount, if you double it we would be in with a slight chance even then, he is a class player and would fit into our style of play quite easily.......
Monk will be important & cheap as a squad player with his sights on a behind the scenes job at a later date , Whittingham would be semi - important & expensive as a regular .
i have not heard anything about our interest in whitts myself but if we were after him then he would be a good signing imo..
Monk will be comfortable holding his own , at a lower wage , in a sub role with maybe a start here or there in the Premier . If Whittingham was signed , he would be expected to play most games & might struggle somewhat in the Premier as a starter , at a high wage . Apples & oranges contracts !
I never said Monk would be a a starter in the Premier League & I never said I would want Whittingham , period . That said , Monk is good value for decency in the squad . As for " Big Time Premier League Strikers " , Cardiff have left a trail of them without moving up , with Monk playing his share " . The only reason I wouldn't want Whittingham is he would cost more than he would be worth to us , as he would be expected to play as a starter with no guareentee how he'd do within the way we play .
It is not you could not get the player and more to do with the role Malkay has in mind for him, seems he wants him to play in a Stephen Gerrard type position with a lot more of the ball being worked through him. Having lost so many players we are building a new team, players come and players go. We do seem to be able to attract plenty of good players in front of other teams and in numbers so really it hardly matters who goes and who stays. Naturally the ace in the hole is Bellamy apart from that im not bothered. Good luck to you, hope you do well.
I think he's referring to the prem level rejects, Chopra, Fowler, JFH etc. Though quite what relevenace that has to the discussion beats me.
Exactly what I meant Hacker , nobodies seems to have tore a Monk's arse apart . Not Bellamy , Chopra , Bothroyd , all Premier League standard You've come a long way from " You wouldn't sign Whittingham but you give Monk a contract " . The relevancy is you were the one that brought up " Strikers " out of the blue , I just tried to make a point that Monk did ok against your so called Premier League strikers .
Jeez , that's not what I heard for the past few seasons from Cardiff fans . " Cardiff have Premier quality strikers & Swansea will never have them because they have no ambition " & such , can't have it both ways
I'd be surprised if the whitts rumours weren't being monitored by all,he's a class act who malky seems to want to build the team around. However, really couldn't see him at swansea.... he's too much a blue
