Why did news now dumb down what i wrote in my article?

  1. I made an article the other day, and it has been featured on news now -

    http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Fo... United?search=&type=&searchheadlines=&Page=3

It was my "why do people try and defend Mike Ashley" article, and they seemed to have taken the interest in it.

But when you click on the link to the article, it doesn't show the exactly original, but an edited version? I elaborated a lot more than shown in this article. It's really quite frustrating.

So all though i am happy that they took interest in what i said, why are they allowed to edit what i wrote in the article?

"NewsNow does not imply any association with, nor endorsement by or of, the publisher of this article."

You realise News Now just collate articles from various websites & blogs etc right? There have been several not606 articles on there.

  5. My bad. It was actually MatleseMick. He runs this website, and he edited my thread before putting it in the articles section. It's quite frustrating.

They edit stuff that like that out because people who find the article who arent from not606 wouldnt have a clue why you said that.

  8. Yes, i understand that part, but there are points in which i elaborated on, which were edited down to simple sentences. Who ever views it now wont understand the article fully now that the detail has been wiped from it.

Sorry guys its an issue I'm going to face at some point - Someone writes a good post, but it has lots of swearing, spelling mistakes and lack of paragraphs etc. In order to promote the site we want the best content to appear on Newsnow, so we fix the swearing, spelling mistakes and lack of paragraphs and promote it. The guy is now pissed off because we have changed what he said.

Where is the line? I'm not sure yet <whistle>

  13. It had one swear word in. If you want to edit spelling mistakes then fine, but that doesn't mean you should cut out some of content, which you did.

It's not the end of the world man, why care? You didn't even expect it to be published at all, and it's not like you're being entirely misquoted in a national newspaper or something.

I see your point Tash, but you should be flattered that it was selected <ok>

Plus, Ben Arfa is injured, far more serious matters. I wanted to cry last night when I heard he was stretchered off.

  16. It;s annoying though. I was glad when i joined this website because i thought it was going to be more free about what you can say, which is true until the website decides it wants money and edits what you have said. It's going to end up turning in to old606 before you know it!

Steven Gerrard will be safe once again!

so be it. Its only done in order to make Not606 more appealing to people.

Exactly <ok>. He didn't edit your original article either, you aren't being censored here he just wants his site to grow, and nobody can hold that against him at all.

  19. Fine, then why doesn't he ban ****ers like Edge who are racist and homophobic? I think it will make the site less appealing to new users if they are insulted by him at any point during their time on here.

There's a simple solution to this Tash

If you do not want Mick to edit your posts in order for them to be published on Newsnow, then just ask him not to publish anything you write on Newsnow. End of problem.
