Not really a fair comparision, the second team was built with money from two seasons in the top division.

Throw a peak Jay Jay into team 1 and it becomes a lot closer.

Team 2 would be easy winners IMO. 3-0 to Brucies squad. We have quality in every position today.

    A fairer comparison would be:

    Myhill
    Rickets Turner Brown A. Dawson
    Okocha Ashbee (c) Marney Pederson
    Windass Campbell

    vs.

    Stockdale
Elmohamady Chester Faye Hobbs (c) Brady
    Koren Evans Quinn
    Aluko Gedo

It would be a much, much closer game but I sitll think Team 2 would edge it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but going on the voting now Team One would be 14/1 to win, I'd have a punt at those odds!

Bollocks. Ashbee would murder that midfield.

Aluko and Gedo supported by Brady and Elmo would murder that defence, hence me saying it would be a much closer game. Ricketts and Turner weren't as good as people make out and Brown was bang average.

Prime turner was class, and ricketts was mint. Brown was essentially Bruce junior but everyone thinks he's good enough.

I'd take deano over gedo every day of the week. Aluko can't hit a barn door without it bouncing 5 times.

Chester and Hobbs at their very best were far better than Turner and Brown. Rosenior was better than Ricketts, I reckon. Deano and Campbell were better strike partners than Gedo and Aluko (obviously, I only put Gedo and Aluko because at their best they were class, even if they didn't play together often). Although, I can't see Deano or Campbell scoring many goals past a back three of Chester, Hobbs or Faye, can you? I stand by my statement.

I think a prime Windass and Campbell partnership makes a fool of many a defence. Hobbs better than Turner? Do me a favour.

I'd take Dawson and Ash from team 1 in place of Robbo and Meyler and possibly Bo in nets too but that's about it, team and squad a lot stronger now

edit.....**** me, can't believe i glossed over how good Turner was, he'd be in my back 4 with Daws at CB hands down.....actually I think it'd be closer than most think, certainly closer than I first thought it would be

Yup. Chester's better than him as well. The Championship in 2012 onwards had/has much more class than it did in 2007. I think too many people look back at some of our former players in an overly-sentimental way and exaggerate their ability. If I had to pick one player from our 2007/08 squad to improve our current squad, it'd be Ashbee.
