I've done the same again Terry. Remember about 4 months ago I just couldn't get to a gym? Well I did and in 6-8 weeks I quickly got my size back, I was full of energy, confidence was back and so was my enthusiasm for life.

Something changed in my life, couldn't commit as much time to the gym and then I've just dropped off since then. I've lost the 2 stone I've put on and back to clothes hanging off me again. One big vicious ****ing circle.

Healthy sleep is the route to a healthy mind fella, any professional will vouch for that. Your change in diet and exercise routine will surely have played hell with your sleep. Too much sleep is just as damaging as too little. Your body and brain will have instinctively known how much sleep you required thanks to your strict routine. Now you've strayed from your routine your body clock is ****ed, your energy intake is unpredictable and inconsistent and now your brain is battered.

Much easier said than done but I reckon getting that routine back will do more for your mental health than any meds and therapy will ever do.

How's your skin out of intrest mate?

Totally agree. I'm currently in a huff with the NHS, ****ing nurses lied about me contacting them before that happened in April. I sent them a letter wishing death on the lot of them and calling them all the ****s under the sun. I also childishly told them I'd never use the NHS services again no matter what. So far I've stuck to it <laugh>

Anyways, I honestly believe in what you have just said and I know that if I get my sleep and diet right, everything else will just fall into place. Sleep defines what sort of Life I will live.

I'm paranoid to death about people lying that I will only do anything by email so I've got a written record of everything. Proper convinced myself that the world is full jobworths liabilities only out to cover their own arse.

Yep. Sleep has always been my worst enemy, I know if I sort my diet and exercise i'll improve but between bouts of depression and mania and the fact my knee becomes a real problem it's a ****ing evil circle to break out of.

Skin is fine mate aside from not being tanned enough!

I'm waking up through the night at least once per night nowadays sometimes more and often for an hour or two before I can sleep again.

I know what I need to do, I never started that course of meds.

I really feel for you guys that struggle with your sleep patterns. They can **** up everything, apart from just being tired and irritable. Two of my mates have sleep apnoea. Must be hell.

You guys must have tried a thousand things to try and get a good nights sleep, like me.

The only thing that worked for me was not to fight it. So I go to bed early, wake up about 1 or 2-ish, go downstairs for an hour, then back upstairs for 3 more hours of sleep.

As soon as I stopped fighting it I stopped worrying about it and that helped.

Edit, sorry lads, just read that back after I posted. Sounds really patronising. Didn't mean to do that at all. It works for me, but may not suit you guys.

But... if you've ever heard about big sleep and little sleep it might make sense. I only heard about it after I'd already started getting up during the night.

I worked a three shift system for years & it played havoc with my sleep.
I've seen me go three days with none at all.
Had chronic insomnia for years. GP's are reluctant to give out sleeping tablets as most are addictive.
They put me on zopiclone when I was in hospital & discharged me with a months supply.
They were great especially when combined with a few drinks but my GP took me off them.
Nowadys I rely on alcohol to get me over. Even then I'm often awake at 05.00 even though the alarm is set for 06.30.
It's a right twat not being able to sleep.

That post nearly sent me to sleep <laugh>

Only joking BM, every person is different, but I know one thing, if I put my body through it's paces I will fall asleep and not wake up until my alarm goes off.

Bet you slept like a baby back in the day after a 20 mile tab with 30K on your back.

    Maybe not 20 mile, that's a bit far <laugh>
