Is that the one where John Fruscianti is placed above Richard Thompson? Lost all credibility at that point, I'm afraid.

Beaten by George Harrison at 11. How does that work?

Carlos Santana (or Sultana as a Hull lass called him) at number 20. Please don't say he's not a better guitarist.

Obviously Harrison is better. Rolling Stone said so.

'Rankers' are ****ers. It's all subjective. Just enjoy the ones you love - and explore the others...

    That was kinda my point.

But still, Marr at 51 and Mick at 41? Typical American bias... :bandit:

To be fair, for the most part, the RS list isn't too bad, I can at least tolerate most of it's choices. It is subjective as you say.

Keef at no.4 is insane though IMO. Everyone else in the top 10 is better than him. Most of the top 20 is. I'd maybe swap him and EVH round.

I might've missed him, but I didn't see Django Reinhardt in the list. He was great.

I couldn't find him on the list either. Nice to see 3 included who were with the Allman Brothers - Duane, Dickey Betts and Derek Trucks. As you say it's subjective as I was referring to David Fricke's list in RS and you were quoting from the RS list compiled by a number of contributers. For example Clarence White is 41 in the former and 52 in the latter list. Each to their own.Was interested in reading about Robby Krieger (The Doors) who had to adapt his playing style in the absence of bass and Rhythm players .

I just had a look at the Fricke list - Cobain at number 12?

Look, I love Cobain and Nirvana, but there is no way on God's green Earth he is the 12th best guitarist ever. He wasn't even the best guitarist in Nirvana.

Not seen the list, but I'd agree about the Human Riff not being no.4. He's a rhythm player; a ****ing brilliant one, but not a lead-player.

Surprised Steve Vai and Eric Johnson don't get a mention.Perhaps not melodic enough.

Most lists have Steve Vai in the top 30.

But not in the two RS lists we've been discussing . If Steve Vai is in these other lists surely Joe Satriani, his mentor, would be, along with John Petrucci, Andy Timmons, Paul Gilbert and Steve Morse? ?
