I dunno how I got 23. Some were pure guesses. That was a tough test.

This is where their real power lies. They don't have the capability or numbers to carry out attacks on a particularly regular basis (****ing often enough but not to the extent we fear). What they do have the power to do is cause panic and fear and create a hell of a lot of false alarms to disrupt society. There will be false alarm after false alarm until we start to be less cautious and then it wont be a false alarm. In the meantime they will thrive on what the effects of their actions are doing to us.

I wouldn't be surprised if something else does happen soon - particularly with some still on the run. I doubt they will go out with a whimper. But for the most part there will be false alarms that the authorities have no choice but to play safe with.

I can see them attacking a football stadium with the potential for massive casualties. The disruption and carnage that will cause is unspeakable. If they do it either here or Germany, the impact will be massive due to the numbers that attend games.

This is something I have always wondered about - but it's not something you like posting for fear of giving ideas. It doesn't even bear thinking about what the death toll would have been on a 9/11 style attack if those planes hit a packed stadium rather than a building - no matter how big the building was. I think they will struggle to get into a big stadium for a while now. Hopefully we will need to learn to accept that it's going to take longer to get into games because hopefully they will be checking everybody. How long till it becomes a token gesture though after weeks of checking thousands and thousands of fans with no results?

That's the problem. All it takes is for them to attack a big stadium - Old Trafford, Wembley, Emirates, Allianz Arena, St James etc to make a point. Casualties would be high and the fear factor would be ingrained. These terrorists have targeted planes, subways, skyscrapers, people on the street. They allegedly tried [and failed] at Stade de France. That suggests that they are planning a stadium massacre. You just have to look at how lax security is at some of the big venues. Only away fans get checked going into grounds. A rogue agent walking into the home end with a ticket and a suicide vest. Or several in unison. Doesn't bear thinking about.

Some of the more forward looking clubs have been quietly practicing quickly evacuating stadiums at half time. Sunderland do it every home game.

A bit ironic considering Sunderland itself looks like a war zone.

The Mirror was still reporting it at noon today. Hard to separate the fact from the froth at times.

It's probably a case of wait until it is breaking news on one of the major news channels. I see there have been several alerts today.

I'm expecting extra checks at SJP from now on, like with the Olympics.
It's no issue for me as it means we are safer.

With all respect the Turks deserve everything they get from the PKK. Kurds have always been treated disgustingly by the Turks and I'm hoping the end of this war in Syria will see the rise of Kurdistan.

The Turks will lay waste to every Kurd they come across before that happens mate.

In other news, can we give respect to the poor dog that died today in duty showing more balls than most of the Liberal/lefty candle waving Parisians singing 'No borders, hands across the world, Islam is a religion of peace' type bullshit. Flowers and guitars are not bullet proof for ****'s sake.

I know mate, the arseholes were bombing the YPG and YPJ in Syria before they even went after ISIS. I really, really hate that country. Absolute ****hole.

Kurds are Muslims who believe in democracy <ok>

Terrorist threat in stadiums could easily come from the air - small plane, mortar, pipe bomb strapped to a drone. Armed police outside stadia is a minimum requirement now though I would have thought and a return to getting patted down by stewards, although should that not happen before you actually go into the stadium?

Apparently Piccadilly station in Mancland was evacuated yesterday tea time and closed for three hours, due to a "tresspasser". Absolutely nothing on the news.
