He'd been ill for such a long time...must have suffered, though his death was unexpected. Some people transcend their sport....he was one of those.

Anyone been following River which finished yesterday. Superbly moving with brilliant acting. Top quality drama which will live in the memory (and you don't say that very often).
Yes, but like you with Fargo (how good is that by the way?) we have recorded it so don't give it away! We are watching River tonight and have found it very good so far. We have watched or recorded the following tv series recently, most of them have copious amounts of blood which tells you something about our preferred taste in drama. Fargo...excellent River...very good Unforgotten....not bad Homeland....very good The Returned....haven't seen any of series 2 yet but series 1 was ok From Darkness...absolute dross. I'm hoping for more similar quality series to get us through the winter. You may be interested in this site for all the tv series you could ever need. http://www.couchtuner.la/
I am enjoying Fargo and enjoyed Unforgotten. Have deleted the second series of The Returned....liked the first series, but decided it would probably just drift on, so decided against it. Am looking forward to the new series of The Bridge....strangely love subtitled dramas.
Got me there, Chilco. Can't recall anything in Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau which refers to tyranny. Plenty about foreigners and keeping things pure. (Similar to La Marseillaise in that respect). I can imagine the upset if we ever had an anthem like that - crushing "rebellious Scots" causes enough offence to those who seek it.
The ROI players out enjoying their Euro qualification. Notably Shane is on the acoustic guitar. Robbie Keane hogs the microphone but asks Shane for prompts. Gets quite funny. Perhaps "Foeman trampling the land underfoot" then, in one translation. Same sort of sentiment as the French song anyway, rather than ours bashing anyone who dares to resist our Imperial rule!
That is probably the most powerful response to a life-shattering tragedy it is possible to imagine. Inspiring indeed.

Does anybody still listen to cassettes on their own player ? If so , do you like comedy ? ** this IS a serious question **
Murray/Peers lose to the Bryant brothers in London. Had them on the rack, but Peers let Murray down at the end. The last game they will play together as well.
I wish the BBC would stop saying The Republic of Ireland football team has no star players - SHANE LONG !!!!!!!
