Well done SaintDon13. Cheering to see a new Saints match thread after the events during the PL break. Although Stoke City will undoubtedly be a tough match in every sense, I'm confident you'll be doing the Man City one as well.
Tough game. Hughes will 'park the bus' and kick the living daylights out of us. Nevertheless this is a winnable fixture, but see this as a low scoring game. Suggest either 2-1 or 1-1. What's certain is Pelle will throw at least one tantrum with the ref with all the manhandling he is going to receive!
Just s note in Stoke's defence. Mark Hughes still has a physical side however they are playing a different brand of football to Pulis' Stoke. I thought they played better than us in the 2-2 draw a couple of seasons back and last year they played quite well in the second half. The games I've seen of them this season, they've looked to be playing some good stuff. They have a talent in Bojan for sure.
Agree FLT. I thought we missed a trick not getting Bojan, credit to Stoke for that one. I don't often predict, but can see our posters up in arms and arguing after this one...which after recent results could mean a win, loss or draw
Bojan, Afellay, Djiouf, Shaqiri, not to mention Butland. Hughes is building a very talented squad, with the likes of Arnautovic and Walters adding a bit of muscle. They totally outplayed Chelsea, just like we did, and this will be a very hard game to win. 8-0 to Saints.
Whatever happens, win, lose or draw, play like Barcelona or play like Dagenham and Redbridge, it's just a football match. After Friday's events, my argument about not playing well and Vic's red card after the Bournemouth game seems extremely petty and unnecessary. I'll still be disappointed if we don't win of course, I'll just put it into perspective better.
Looking forward to a game after the international break. Stoke will give us a hard game...Saints will have to take advantage of any chances we get. We should win, but dangerous to think like that in the PL.
Slongs going to mark his return from injury with a second half substitute appearance and the winning goal.
Stoke...never a fixture I look forward to whether home or away. They might try and play a bit more football these days but with Charlie Adam, Wilson, Shawcross etc they have kept the nasty side of their game too
Looks like it could be a cold and windy day, Saturday, so will be like a home game to them. Even though they have got rid of Pulis, their defence in recent weeks has been very miserly, conceding just 2 goals in the last 6 Premier League games, if I remember correctly. Haven't scored many all season, either, so could be one of those horrible, why did I bother coming to this one, type of game. But then, I don't think I have ever been to a "good and entertaining" against Stoke.
The counter attack is what concerns me most. I agree that they are a more creative side and Hughes has made some very good signings. Like others, not looking forward to this one. Chances will come at a premium, so do need to take them when they do.
I hope Saints win here. Bit of a cock up last weekend. I came across (the world) for the game from last weekend only to find out it was internationals weekend. Complete waste of time. Makes sense now with the new match thread.
Your adventure is worth the long story. Start from the beginning. How did you get your days mixed up; why did you pick last weekend and how far did you commit into your plan once you knew it there was to be no SFC football at the end of it. Don't hold back. Give us the detail, so that we can wince and smile at every other turn. We've all had these occasions, but none perhaps quite so glorious as yours, I'm reckoning. If it's that good story you could start a thread of wonderful fails.
