I used to go there every year without fail when I was a kid, loved it, must be 25-30 years since I've been now. I would love to go back next time I'm up north to re-live my childhood. Has anyone been recently ? What's it like now ?
Wow, I went there about 20 years ago... The Ultimate... that was an awesome ride as a kid. Then I went back around 8 years later and found nothing more than a stinking **** tip of chavs, burkhas and rubbish covering every square inch of floor space. I'd be surprised if it's still open at all.
Its amazing how places have changed over the years when I went when it first opened the monkey enclosure were 3 x 20ft sheer concrete walls with trees painted on them and metal bars at the front how times have changed to cruelty to animals.
The closest Lightwater Valley gets to animals is the zero hour contract workers from Hartlepool who's been put in charge of your safety. Think you're thinking of Flamingo Land.
Ha ha! Flamingo Land was better than I expected it to be last time I went. I was pissed up and in a massive group though.
Went a few month back. The rat has gone, it was always a favourite of mine. Anyway the entrance has been done like a Jurassic bit and it's a crazy golf course. There is also a pirate like area with the ships and barrel rides etc. Great for the kids, they enjoyed it. I prefer it as it ain't as busy as flamingo land
Change the trees to painted rubble and it's somewhere to stick these Jihad monkeys and the **** between their ears..
We used to go in the mid-90's and it was all about the Ultimate and the Rat. Wasn't the ultimate the highest/tallest/fastest/longest (delete as appropriate) rollercoaster in Europe when it opened? Anyway finally went to Alton Towers a few years back and much as the cost and commercialism pains me it was far superior. Sadly.
Cheers, wasn't sure but had an inkling somewhere. What I loved about the rat (what I can remember of it) is that the ride itself was waiting in a queue for 40 mins or so for a pretty slow and rubbish ride that was made entirely by the atmosphere created from the pitch black and frankly shocking images of rats (and dead bodies being eaten? Am I remembering that wrong? It seems so unlikely now I think of it) and it was mostly probably just my imagination filling in. I don't think there's enough of the "slow burn" psychological stuff now - a lot of faster, faster, faster... Not sure I'd be pushing my kids onto the rat though to be fair.
Love the Ultimate Roller-coaster..Still one of my favourites...I was there last about 3 years ago and thought it was canny..
Ahhhhhhhhh ...... You'd get well with my missus! She almost **** herself on the 'crazy caterpillar' with the bairn at Sth Shields years ago.. She reckons it was really fast (as all rides for 2-3 yr olds are like)
