Once this war ends, watch all the supposed 'friends of Syria' who have been egging this war on through money, arms, and political backing, drop Syria like a bag of flies, ain't nobody going to have the time of day for Syria after this war, and ain't nobody going to take on the costs of rebuilding Syria. That's why I always say, no matter who 'wins', everybody in Syria has lost already, this is quite a big country, and the amount of devastation it has suffered, will take decades to rebuild, you have some entire cities and towns in rubble.
The problem with Assad is that he's not our dictator, so that's why he's gotta go. If he was onboard though with the neocons vision, rather than being in the camp of Iran-Russia, then he'd be our boy.
We support freedom, democracy, and human rights. It's not obvious. We always stand up for freedom against the tyrants.
You've hit the hypocritical nail on the head. We are in so much turmoil because the corrupt are spreading their corrupt agenda all over the world and creating all sorts of problems. Saudi Arabia should have been one of the first to be "regime changed" but have miraculously survived and seemingly leading the way with their ultra conservative version of Islam.
I have just read a report that the our PM is proposing that we become involved in air-strikes against alleged ISIL targets in Syria. How would that prevent another "Paris" or IS striking in London when these "terrorist networks" are already set up in barrios in the a number of large European and UK cities? Crap idea Cameron who just wants to be seen doing something which is next to useless? If we are to beat these guys, we need to outsmart them in terms or thinking, intellect and strategy. It will involve infiltrating this organisation and then taking out the head henchmen. Dangerous for the individuals involved but less dangerous to us as we would not be involved in these air-strikes and would be less likely to be a target once these henchmen are decapitated.
Otherwise they will ruin our way of life! But we are happy to ruin their way of life lone before the Paris attack or 9/11.......................
I think it's even more insidious than that Ides. If we bomb Syria we are going to cause more instability, giving further opportunities for us to put a stranglehold on the area, and allowing us to grab more and more oilfields, then when the air strikes cause hundred of thousands of more refugees to flee the death and destruction and head for Europe, then it gives Cameron the excuse to distance himself from the EU/pull out of the EU, and the rising Islamphobia will give him the excuse to further erode civil liberties at home, while blaming a lot of societies ills on Muslims/Foreigners/Immigrants/Refugees. Essentially what happened after 9/11
It is a case of being proactive Smirnoff. I agree and that could well be his underlyng rationale so the bombing is an sop to people wanting revenge. I said this a few days ago. It is a dirty war and requires the West to be even dirtier and smarter. A traditional military response involving air-strikes is not one of them.
Germany vs Holland game has been called off and stadium evacuated because of security concerns. Apparently Merkel was going to be there!
Of course he has no regard for human lives or safety. He's murdered around 400,000 of his own people, 4 million have fled (or attempted to flee) the country & 7 million have had their homes destroyed. He is one of the worst human beings on the entire planet.
How many of those people that have fled or had their homes destroyed are because of the actions of daesh ? How many Yazidi women have been made into sex slaves,Christians slaughtered for not converting to Islam or homosexuals thrown off buildings by Assad ?
You cannot be serious. You are honestly saying to me that one of the most brutal dictators in human history, who has ordered bombings on his own people and ordered his soldiers to go into homes and deliberately harm women and children, is less of a threat than ISIS? A man who imprisons people who protest against his regime and then has them tortured and killed in prison cells? "The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) documented at least 1,232 civilian deaths in December, with 1,049 killed by regime forces, or more than 85 percent. ISIS is responsible, by this count, for just over 5 percent of the civilian deaths." http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/may/12/smuggled-syrian-documents-indict-assad-investigators http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...319/Bashar-al-Assad-is-still-the-problem.html Two ideologically differing British newspapers share the same view on him, for crying out loud. ISIS are an issue, but not as big a problem as Assad. To try and suggest otherwise is utterly ludicrous.
Dropping a bomb on their head henchmen would lead to reprisals, but infiltrating them and taking the henchmen out wouldn't?
The problem with taking out an established authority, even if its of a nasty dictator like Asad, is you need a proper plan of help that isn't based on nation/individual interests, but for what is good for the people. ISIS and the rest of these created entities can only exist from major help from their puppet masters and they are clearly not the solution, as demonstrated by even higher levels of oppression upon the Syrian people. Destabilising the whole of Syria has not only brought even more suffering of the people but has larger repercussions outside of the nation. The problem is, the UN was created to deal with such situations in a fair and just manner, but they've morphed into a corrupt organisation used by the few powerful nations to further their agendas. What i'm trying to say is, unless you have a proper plan, back by the majority of the countries, not just the US, UK etc, but involving Russia and Iran, you can't hope to solve the situation, and it's better the devil you know than give way to crazy axe wielding banditos that terrorise everyone!
I thought we were talking about air strikes? You know, the sort that are already going on in the country and is reducing whole cities to rubble and killing thousands and part of the reason that millions have been displaced. Surely you see how us, the French, USA and Russia dropping bombs and killing innocent people may turn some of the survivors against us and make them more susceptible to radicalisation?
Daesh are not an issue ? Try telling that to the families of those murdered in Paris, try telling that to the families of those murdered on the Russian aeroplane. What about those who were murdered in Beirut last week. What about the Yazidis who were slaughtered in Sinjar. What about the Yazidi women who have been sold into sexual slavery. What about the Assyrian Christians who have been slaughtered ? Assad is a murdering dictator who should be overthrown and brought to trial but don't try and say he is a bigger problem than daesh
The whole situation with Terrorist groups has arisen because we went in and took out Saddam Hussein in Iraq and then left a power vacuum behind, bombed the infrastructure to **** and left behind a country open for radical militants to flourish. If anybody thinks simply taking out Assad with an air strike will solve the situation in Syria, then they only have to look at the situation in Iraq/Syria now to see the result.
