That Spurs cup tie tops it for me, just about. Close behind was the 3-2 defeat of Arsenal that same season. Augustin Delgado scored, and played a full 90 mins as I recall, and that's not something you can say very often.
Best memory - Portsmouth 3-0 win , with pahars scoring. Worst memory - Leicester at home in 2004 I think it was. It was mid winter and was b*llocking cold, the worst game of football I have ever watched, and it finished 0-0.
Do you remember Delgado's goal which he didn't even know he'd scored. Everyone cheered and he looked everywhere for the ball..everywhere but the net.
Few that stick out for me... 3-0 against Pompey with Pahars goal, and Dodds from a corner (still fuming they took that off him). THAT Norwich game...probably one of the best atmospheres I've heard at St Marys...shame we went down anyway couple weeks later! FA Cup 1/4 Final against Wolves.....When Marsden(?) scored the second...sort of overhead kick. Newcastle at home...was an end of season game, nothing on it, finished 3-3. Fantastic game of football, I think we had Alan Blayney in goal and he had a fantastic game, brilliant atmosphere as well. Fernandes goal against Everton... Finally...the Walsall game....what a day! Oh and I remember that 3-2 game against Arsenal well, I remember Niemi making a treble save in the second half from Vieira, Pires and Henry!
Me too, I've only been a ST holder since 2006. My fave memories are - The first home game of the 2006-2007 season, when Jim from EastEnders was introduced to the crowd - That game against Sheff Utd with us going 1-0 down, to come back to win 3-2 and survive relegation - Claus' testimonial. The one and only chance I got to see the great Matt le Tissier playing in a Saints shirt. - JPT games against Norwich and MK Dons
It's got to be the whole of that FA Cup run. Spurs, Millwall, Norwich, Wolves. God we were lucky with getting all our ties at home (which still appears to be the case these days).
I got to referee at St Marys when the coaches played each other at the end of the season when it looked like we might go out of business. I thought I might be the last person ever to ref at St Marys. I used the refs room, and at the end of the game, I got to take a penalty at the northam end - and scored!! A really fantastic experience, but dwearfed by the first game under Markus Liebherr, when the video was played - dont mind admitting I had tears in my eyes!
