Our religionous morals must look weak to any outsider as we switched to Darwin years ago didn't we?

I understood that was a forecast of most religions that said part of the world would turn its back on god

    Still Black Friday soon

A little nearer to home, and I hope that in addition to looking for dangerous plastic bottles in our rucksacks, the QPR security men at the forthcoming Leeds match and beyond start looking at anyone who might be wearing a bulky waistcoat. I would hope that the Government ensures there are firearms officers in attendance at any large event now. French casualties were, in fact, kept down by the fact that the cops had guns to fight back against AK 47's. We don't have that assurance over here.

Those idiots have about 1 brain cell between them. You could walk into QPR with a rocket launcher on your back and they would stop the kid next to you for bringing in a bag of crisps.

No joke this happened to me before at Dover.

I'm not quite sure why targets the French hit, with the aid of US Intelligence, haven't been hit already!

    Thought the same thing.
French said we hit training centre, HQ, Ammunitions, blah blah blah.
Why was it not taken out before?

It's the age old difference between civilised, law abiding people and criminals.

The rule of law is sacrosanct, and we understand that crossing it is a step we cannot take - unless exceptional circumstances and provocation occurs. The criminal has no such compunction to remain within the law.

In this case, we all knew where the HQ, the ammo dumps and the training centres were. But to hit them in a pre-emptive strike would have violated the global conventions we hold as part of our society. Acting n self-defence after an attack on us has taken place is different, does not break conventions of law, and that's why it happened after the events of Friday, and not before.

Well it's about time we took the gloves off and take the fight to them. This may help stop another Paris/London/NY and the rest of these vile attacks.
I know there will always be another nutter or another radical group that take over but lessons from history have proved that taking these monsters out ASAP can save future lives. Imagine if Hitler had been assassinated long before the war? Or if we had stopped him when we could have?
Seriously these nutters will get hold of a dirty bomb at some stage and cause 1000's of deaths. We need to find them and take the out before they do something worse.

They've been bombing this **** for months, the French air strike was a bit of propaganda, and no complaints from me about that. They are also easy targets to re-locate, so will be hit many times as they move.

I find some (very small) comfort in that it seems harder to get machine guns in the UK when compared to some other countries in Europe that seem awash with the damn things. However, that means we're just more likely to be blown up instead!

Some expert on the radio said it was hard to make a bomb and stuff need to make can be traced and they are monitoring the stuff needed to make it.

Good news too I guess. I've no doubt all the authorities are working very hard since it could be their kith and kin in the firing line as much as anyone's.

With a basic set of bench tools, small arms can be made from a variety of legal blank firing guns that are freely available online. A perfectly adequate pipe bomb can be made from the black powder in fireworks. Just needs a little reading for the knowledge. Think of how many fireworks were sold at your local supermarket in the last few weeks. Just saying!

They found 8 AK47's in that German car. How much more difficult is it to smuggle them through our customs in a lorry (that hardly ever get checked on the way through) than to drive them into Paris? And if suicide bombers start rattling off rounds in 5 or 6 locations in London, all our police have got to defend the public are tasers and the Health and Safety rules.

This dangerous world and free flowing borders isn't going to go away. I wonder how long before we arm the police.

Armed teams would be there as quickly as non armed officers. Also have plenty of barracks dotted about that could assist. Our ability to react is fine but I'm totally with you on the cross border issue. I know plenty of places that a small personal yacht could land without being challenged as well. It's not as hard as it appears to get things into this country.

On reaction time, I might have disagreed with you had we had bobbies patrolling the streets, but since the only time you see the police now is on a motorway when they're trying to nick motorists to supplement their incomes, it's probably right that an armed unit can arrive as quickly as the nearest non-armed copper. I hope we don't have to test it.

The good news is 'a little reading for the knowledge' means internet and that will flag the authorities. As for making guns, (from blank firing guns) they will not be as powerful or as reliable as the weapons used recently. We have better borders than France and hopefully may keep most stuff out.
