Perhaps the people of England should try and patch things up with their Islamic neighbours today. Offer to take them to the pub for a beer!
To be honest he has every right to be. Whenever something like this happens the people that seem to get hit hardest (besides the victims and their families) are all the innocent members of the Muslim community.
Prejudice is prejudice, and there's too much of it on both sides. What pisses me off is the hypocrisy. Again, there's enough of that from both sides.
No one has taken a pop at the wider Muslim community on this thread though, and he doesn't mention having taken any himself. He's got his arse out because he seems to resent the fact that post an Islamic fundamentalist atrocity like the one we've just witnessed, that invariably the Islamic faith in general comes under scrutiny and people have the temerity to pass comment on their way of life and ideologies.
You're not wrong but his comments are very odd, in particular the one about people who look down on non-drinkers as being equal to suicide bombers.
Perhaps I should have qualified "at home". Your average "white" Brit turns on the telly and is horrified at what happened. Your average "Islamic" Brit turns on the telly and is horrified at what happened and wonders what racial and xenophobic experiences they are going to experience now as a result of people pointing their finger. After 9/11 I was singled out for every single "random" bag check at airports for the next few years. I'm white... I just happen to be a Brit living in the US. I noticed the other people "randomly" picked out were usually not white, frequently foreign. I can only imagine what other Crap Muslims have to go through.
That was an odd comment I agree. I hope that was down to him being flustered and saying something that sounded different to what he meant to say.
He's getting angry at the wrong people for starters. Were discussing Islam and the part it plays. He should be angry at those tarnishing Islam in his and every other Muslims name. But this is how resentment of the west is born. Until he can accept that there are elements of and within Islam that are a threat, to us all.
