    He was a good actor. No doubt about that. The fact that people actually agreed with him just shows how convincing his act as a racist bigot was. Or it could be that people are stupid and don't understand parody.

    Like yuppies hailing Loadsamoney as one of their heroes in the late 80s.

    Saw a documentary with him in it a few years ago and the premise of the show was to show up the bigots as the morons they were. Now after his death he is being attacked as a bigot

    Fair enough - I don't use twitter. Bloody idiots.

    That said I thought the BBC was a bit disappointing the other night. Mentioned his death and completely airbrushed Alf Garnett - they were the ones who commissioned it for 4 or 5 series and must have made a fair amount with spin offs in other countries FFS.

    He used to pop up all over the place. One character I particularly enjoyed was the Jewish prisoner in Two way stretch.

    Great actor and Bloke. Being a spurs fan with left wing views playing a convincing role as a right wing west ham supporting conservative says it all, He was half jewish by birth but a staunch atheist in real life.

    I loved the bit in the film version of TDDUP where the black lady gets back the baby Dandy Nicholls had been looking after and says to Alf "it's so kind of you to take care of our Enoch for us"

    The generation older than us are often racist without even meaning it.

    My wee mammy, for example, does not have a racist bone in her body but she tends to say silly things. My favourite is that he calls ye a "nig nog" if she thinks yer being daft. <laugh>
