yeah it doesn't really break through the influences like Rocky and Warrior and Raging Bull to become something truly original but you're right in that it's a modernisation of those influences into the big-time HBO PPV fight night era, trying to represent that and tell a story in it
Have you seen the pilot for web series Star Trek: Renegades? Not bad for being made on a shoestring. A bunch of Star Trek alum in it. Much darker than Star Trek usually is. It's like the new Battle Star Galactica series raped Star Trek and this is the illegitimate child. Feels a little budgety at times. I think it is a playground for old star trek actors to play their old roles again. More ex actors signed up to be in future episodes. There is a blue skinned chick with nice breasts in it too.
Saw Spectre last night thought it was pretty good. Certainly better than the overweight Roger Moore type Bond, holding his gut in whilst wearing a safari suit. I like the modern Bonds with less gadgets, more Bourne like.

At 70 yrs old he really should be picking his roles. Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson demonstrate better judgement perhaps? Although the quality of roles and scripts must be few and far between for 70 yr olds.

Nearly caught up then Just a few more eps to go..... Its horrible when you binge watch a show then catch up and have to wait every week. I did that with Arrow, binge watched seasons 1 and 2 and half of 3, then had to wait

I watched most of season one in a binge. Same with seasons one two and most of three for TWD. Annoying to then have to wait for each episode. I've not got the will power to wait though
Watched San Andreas last night. Very "American", there were about half a dozen near fatalities only for the daughter to be rescued in the final second The film was alright but could have been better imo 6/10
Going to watch one man breaking bad show this week. all series summed up in an hour, save loads of time!
