IF, the Saudis created ISIS - which I very much doubt, they have created their very own Frankenstein's monster.

I think it more likely that they are currently feeding a crocodile hoping it will eat them last. But, eat them it will, if allowed to carry on.

I'm not sure that's the sensible reaction. It's the primal reaction and I understand that but long term it could be a mistake.

You hurt my kids and I beat the crap out of you. It makes sense at the time until they kick the crap out of your kids again, only more severely this time.

    What a ****ing mess.

It's hard to know but tbf ISIS was being courted by Americans two years ago when in its fledgeling state. Considering Saudi is the allie it could well have been created by them or was just a passing coincidence. Or maybe not created but funded?

Less shock and awe, more catapult and stink bombs

It's the allies allowing the French to be seen to be leading the fight for a few days imo.

I think almost certainly they would have received Saudi funding - directly, or more likely, indirectly. But again, the Saudis are just trying to protect their own slimy arses. They're feeding the croc, hoping to keep it at bay. It won't work! If ISIS aren't stopped they'll gobble the Saudis up,too.

Apparently the targets were very specific and planned long term by the coalition.

But I think this had to be expected, admittedly it's really soon after so im quite surprised by it. I can't say truthfully I'm against it as long as it's what they say it is, a training facility, arms depot and can't remember the other.

Aerial strikes on their own is just sabre rattling.

Having said that, I really cant see how this will play out any better on the ground if/when that happens. Whether that's boots on the ground or heavily arming another terrorist group to destroy this one.

Shia see the threat as not only military but stemming from the expanded influence over mainstream Sunni Islam of Wahhabism, the puritanical and intolerant version of Islam espoused by Saudi Arabia that condemns Shia and other Islamic sects as non-Muslim apostates and polytheists.

Iraqi commentator after the Saudi backed Isis tale control of northern Iraq.

The Saudis push this branch of Islam through Isis. The recently dead Saudi king predicted this a decade ago and expected Shai Muslims to experience something similar to Jews in Nazi controlled Europe.

No UIR. I used to believe this but that's just theory. You speak to muslims and the whole wahabi thing is overplayed. It's simple political sectarianism plain and simple between shia and sunni that's all.

I'm no expert. I know that one sect believes that the true successor to Mohammed was his son, and the other believes it was his right hand man. Which is which, I can't remember.

Just like Catholics and Protestants arguing over whether there was a virgin birth or not!..

There's a massive risk, if its not already happening, of Isis committing genocide against minority groups in the middle east.

And call me cynical but I kind of expect people to downplay one of the most extreme versions of their beliefs. I think this is evident throughout history.

I never said the planes are hollow shells. I said there is no way the sructual strength of the plane could have kept the wings on in order for the wings to slice through all that steel.

The plane's fuselage should penetrate, that was what was planned for, the wings get stripped off and the main body passes into the building. The engineers knew kerosene does not burn hot enough to take the building down so there was no need to worry about the issue of the resulting fuel fire.

The plane's actual physical make up is nothing, the only thing that gives the main fuselage any penetratiing power is it's weight and velocity, it's strunctural composition is nothing but a big airtight drum made of flimsy alimunum.

Yet all these things the obviously very experienced engineers planned for, with maths and physics seemed to have been undone by some cartoon physics.

Oh they're extreme and twisted alright but the wahabi practise is prevalent in one form or another with 95% of sunni muslims. I was just picking up on your point about it being puritanical and intolerent. Bit of a sweeping statement to lay the blame at one sect considering the billions who practise it.
