    Dear Mr Gremlin

Did you actually read my post? I stated that the punishment should be confined to those who invaded the pitch rather than punish the club as a whole.. The same applied for the odd idiots who invaded the pitch durung the derby games at Sunderland. And by the way, the assult on your player was actually a 14 year old kid who pushed your keeper on the shoulder, and for his trouble he was apprehended by Sunderland fans, arrested, charged and then dragged round both clubs by his dad to apologise.

The KID that attacked Harper was 17, and what about the multiple fans that surrounded Given 2 years before that, both clubs have fans that are idiots, our club has taken action by banning general sales of tickets so if it does kick off again the fans can be easier identified

I think that it is pathetic for supporters of either club to try and claim the moral high ground when it comes to pitch invasions and crowd trouble.

Many people on here are old enough to remember the violence of the 70's and 80's. Not just our club's either. I remember that famous picture of the fan with the dart sticking out of his nose at a Liverpool match. Kung foo stars being thrown at old trafford, my own father was hit on the head by a golf ball trown into the Newcastle fans at Tottenham in the late 70's, the numerous stabbings that we would hear about every season.

So even though the initial pitch invasion was good spirited, if the silly buggers had not gone on there in the first place, there would not have been any violence. I believe that if you go onto a football pitch you should be banned.

sad that a thread about the ban, was it fair or not, seems to have turned into yes but look what you did. I started by saying I thought the club had over reacted, after reading some rsponces maybe the club got it right after all

How come that never got out in the press then? The Sunderland fans that day clearly went on to the pitch to goad the Newcastle fans. It was about 300 people not the ridiculous amount quoted in the Sun newspaper. It was meant in good nature but is still embarrassing, I hope the idiots personally get banned as it tarnishes everyone associated with Newcastle and Darlington sadly. Also finally I think a fine would be fair if Newcastle don't take the appropriate action against the guilty party.
