The FA will probably get a French opera style singer in to sing their anthem.

Or kids like they did with the Kiwi anthem at the RL match at Wigan yesterday.

If they did that it would be quite weird kids singing about watering fields with the blood of their enemies. Which is what the Marseilles is about.

Here you go Peter, take your phone to the match and sing along to this!

New Zealand's national anthem mentions putting enemies to flight so our national anthem is quite peaceful compared to the national anthem's of France and New Zealand.

I could just mime. I'd also still be miming it after the match had started.

Didn't the NZ rugby players try put the slit the throat motion into the Haka? And then it got banned. It seems to change quite a bit.

I don't know but it does seem a bit aggressive so I quite like it when opponents stare them down.

Probably not the place to discuss, but our national anthem is a bit ****, let's be honest.

Should be Land of Hope and Glory or Jerusalem.

True. Prefer Jerusalem myself. Love it being played before the Cricket.

That's the one of the two I prefer also, but either would be much better than GSTQ.

Land of Hope and Glory rather than Jerusalem any day.
It's weird singing about a city in another country.

Not really about Jerusalem is it? It's about an idealistic landscape of green, rolling hills & pastures, that he perceives the country once was. Away from the "dark satanic mills" of the industrial revolution.

Have you actually listened to the lyrics?

    It's definitely about England.

Stratford's quite a nice place. Why don't Hull City fans sing about Stratford? We can always say we'd like Hull to look like Stratford.

Could we get a world select XI and challenge ISIS to a football match? I'm sure they enjoy football. Then, when all their fans get into their section we can just arrest them all.

I've listened to them and read them. I know it's "about" England but it seems to be saying it wished it was like Jerusalem. I'll love England just as it is, was and will be. I'm English.

It would never work. They are not that stupid. Now if we arranged a virgin market with a two for the price of one offer I'm sure they'd flock to that. Then we could arrest them. But we'd have to do it with netting because we can't have "boots on the ground".

Well, if you actually understood the lyrics, you'd know that Jerusalem is being used as a metaphor for Heaven, not the actual city itself.

    Educate yourself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_did_those_feet_in_ancient_time

    Anyways enough derailing.
