Went to see the Under 21's in Totton tonight, won 1-0 thanks to a long-range effort from Andy Robinson Was impressed with the players, and how we play but the players who really stood out for me were Jack Stephens, Aaran Racine, James Ward-Prowse & Omar Rowe - these players were outstanding I thought and are certainly going to make it to the 1st team if developed properly One negative I would have though, is some players such as Lloyd Isgrove, Sam Hoskins and Corby Moore look to lightweight, and so had a mixed game - they need to get some muscle! Harlee Dean was captain, playing out of position at CB and it showed, looked totally out of his depth playing there Ryan Doble & Ben Reeves were good, although not outstaning. Doble had some nice touches/flick-ons but missed a sitter or 2, and Reeves was good down the left, especially when he moved to LM in the 2nd half Jason Puncheon started, swore right in front of the fans but was otherwise quite imprssive - although he still can't score for us! Jack Dovey and Steve Mowthorpe in goal didnt have much to do, so can't really comment on and players who came on, such as Harrison Reed didn't have much to do so can't really comment on that either Also thought Andy Robinson looked quite good in CM, he scored our goal and generally looked a good passer I thought Overall though, the future looks bright, with many prospects for the 1st team in the coming years
to be fair to Puncheon, he played well and was always encouraging and giving advice to the younger lads
The likes of Stephens and JWP we all knew were good a few months ago but this Omar Rowe chap is a name that keeps popping up lately. Don't know anything about him, where's he play?
Right Wing & Left Wing, outstanding, he's got pace, he's got the ability to take it round players, he can cut inside and he can cross
Pfft, he can be next season's breakthrough. Seriously though, if this guy turns out to be a proper talent, people are gonna be wondering what we're feeding our wingers. Theo, Alex, Bale (wasn't a winger with us but still) then this guy. Great to know we have the talent coming through.
Nice to read some positive feed-back about some of the younger players. I think Ryan Doble has got the potential to be a great striker but he needs to get first team experience this season, loaning him out to a lower division side again would be ideal.
Good on him glad he had a good game. Showing what a good player he is. Surely if he is as bad as people are making out he would of sulked or just strolled around the pitch. Instead it was reported he had a good game giving direction to the younger players. Think he will leave but better to leave with match fitness & be in the shop window for scouts to see you perform.
