Bearing in mind the size of the prize for survival this season, it would be the lowest point of McNally's excellent tenure to 'spoil the ship for a hap'orth of tar' so to speak. Not silly money, but a striker and at least one solid, PL class defender, imho are basic requirements.

 

TOTALLY agree Cromer and I agree that we have to speculate a bit to make 'survival' more probable!!!!

A solid decent CB would be top of my list and hope that the midfield can continue to keep the goal tally up until the Summer.

 

Agree with striker and defender....as I've been wanting the last 3 or 4 windows. What I mean is, I can't think of a player I would want, that would come to us, or come to us for a price we would be willing to pay. We have a very small selection of players that would fit all the requirements.

I suspect any move by Grabban to Leeds would only be a temporary loan. I also suspect that Bournemouth wkill be back in for him in January, which could be why the rumours about Dwight Gayle are so prominent at the moment.

Meanwhile, a new rumour has us linked to the Polish CB and captain, Kamil Glik. He plays for Torino in Serie A at the moment and at 27 would come with a high price tag. Like van Dijk he is comfortable at either right or left CB.

Any mention of the Gilk rumour? Seems like a pipe dream to me. The website that shall not be named indicates he would cost us a small fortune given time on his contract. He would be just the sort of defender we're looking for and at 27 right at his prime

He's just the sort of player we should spend big money on though, rather than someone like Dwight Gayle, unless Grabban goes to Bournemouth for around £7m.

Sounds great. Pretty solid, experienced. National Captain, so has good leadership skills. As long as he can speak English, he could be vocal and get the back line into shape. Maybe Direct Ruddy a bit. I just don't think we will spend the money on him.

 

Make him an offer to play in the premier with the clause that he can move on in 6/12 months as long as we mak an decent profit. Scenario, he joins us for £12m and moves to Everton for £14m but we remain in the premiership. A win/win situation. But we will then have to find another classy centre back.
