Like every "religious" war ever fought. Its just a concept to fool the sods to go in and die...we did it plenty of times...the constant? The ****ers in power never strap on the gun or bomb..

Its actually why i like the drone from one point of view...it says you! the leader will be hit, hiding as you send your boys out.

Of course theres another scary side to allowing the use of them

No ofcourse not but I cant change the past. Neither can those who govern us. We've gained through slavery and colonial rule as two typical examples, but that doesnt mean we should do that again (even if it's masked as something else). I dont believe it's ideological either. Tech, capitalism, progress can all be got through means that dont involve trying to wipe out whole regions (if I'm reading you right). I dont believe it's idealogical either (as that often comes across as unattainable) bcos other countries manage it. And changing attitudes such as fairtrade and recycling for example, are driving it.

We tolerate these ****s forcing their women to walk around this country wearing the burka ffs.

Would we tolerate Christians making their women wear chastity belts? Would we ****

We've allowed this archaic medieval ****e to poison our own society and the radicalisation at the edges of it, isn't that far from the core, hence the continued preaching of the clerics in the mosques of the mainstream.

It's intrinsic and they need to take responsibility as a community within our culture, they pay lip service to it, but they haven't done enough in terms of defined actions.

Multiculturism fails when immigrants form enclaves and fail to genuinely integrate into the society that they have chosen to relocate to.

You're contradicting yourself and I dare say you do have some prejudices based on that second post.

The vast majority of muslims or ppl of any religion, that I know or have known dont resemble anything like you've described.

Ok...so what do you do within our system to combat it? My examples were not history, they were now.

Do you get my point? Is your laptop or whatever from china? (Worlds leading unapologetic imperialst country raping africa for resources)

    Do you use oil?

    Electricity?

Never mind the old favourites, roads, nhs etc?

Yes..we can demand our country does things in a fairer way. And ill go green here.. until you become self sustainable as a country..under this current global map you are screwing someone over.

I just get riled at people that jump up and down in comfort; rather than go off and dig some wells....

And because he is not here. I'll do Dave.

**** you all blaming religion lol.

But seriously. We all sit on our computers bitching. Do you know the only people I have personally met who put their balls where their mouths are?

Religious folk. My colleague (who died from cancer at 27) did two stints in africa building houses and wells)

Half the Westerners that were beheaded by ISIS were aid workers...i bet some of them were religious.

And BBF will probably know better but I bet there has been a lot of executions of muslim aid workers that went in thinking theyd be safer...we just didnt here the reports.

No I think you've misunderstood. I dont expect us to be whiter than white here. I expect us to gain indirectly from the misdemeanors of China et al. In the real world we'll ineviteably screw someone over. Little things like fairtrade and going green help but that's not my point. I just dont believe we need to go in all guns blazing, making presidential style grandstanding and militarily bomb the **** out of regions every fcking time to protect fcktards when we dont need to. Even China doesnt do that. There are plenty of countries that dont grandstand or get involved like we do yet are cery prosperous.

So what do you propose then? Stop the pretence of some moral high ground and just wipe everyone out in the region? Only those who you consider the enemy? Who are the enemy? Isnt that pretty much what we're doing now anyway. Letting go of the pretence wont make things any easier. Unless you're proposing wiping out every man, woman and child I dont see how what you're proposing is going to work? You cant get rid of everyone and as we see - those who are left will find a way to come over and fck with us.

Nope. I am fairly fatalistic. We live in a time that is no different than any other. We can try in our own small way (in one of the few countries in the world that actually listens ....a wee bit...to its populace) to effect change. But...you can not enjoy wealth indefinately without taking it from someone else...thats just a fact.

I'd love the Star Trek version where we all cooperate to optimise the resources but we are literally the 300 years away from that. I actually think it will not happen unless there is a global threat to humans. We dont play together unless we have to and even then we **** it up.

So....i live in our country. I will do my best to influence our govt through means available but I have to say....its still tribal and im not a liar...my family first.

By the way. We are human. I was playing a game on my western PS4 when I heard about this. Turned it off and have been watching the news since.

While talking ****e on here, powerless and angry like everyone else. I have in fact sat thinking of those that will not be going home. And those waiting for their loved ones that will not come home.

    Thoughts to those poor people.

The idealistic views of the PC minority are the root cause of the tolerance of extremism on our shores.

The fear of challenging any aspect of the culture of immigrants because of the fear of being accused of racism, has lead to silo cultures within our society.

We've stood by and watched clerics preach hate within our inner cities and then wonder why we've ended up with indoctrination amongst a small percentage of the Muslim youth.

Our tolerance and naivety has lead to these kinds of attrocities

For now, we should let the anger subside and focus on the loss of the families of the 150 who've been massacred tonight. So sad, such a meaningless loss of life.

I'd love the Star Trek version too but that's a pipe dream atm. However I dont believe we need to go from one extreme to the other.

We're a successful and economically powerful nation. We use our clout where we can with other developed nations to suit our needs (and some would argue also when they dont, like with the EU). Beyond that we can trade with who we like in the same manner. We dont need to act like the world's police. There's no need to be getting blood on our hands.

Very true. Tomorrow the internet sages will be telling us how the Israelis did it all with holograms and explosive-rigged buildings.

On the subject of the button though, I take it it has been discussed earlier in the thread (can't be arsed checking) that it's all a moot point anyway, as we won't be pressing any buttons on Trident anyway. It's a US weapons platform, based on access to US satellite systems and US launch codes. The only buttons a UK PM would press would be a telephone keypad to ask Obama his permission to use the the system and to launch it for us, if that's okay with the US. It's about as independent as us going up to a B52 before take-off in North Dakota and writing on one of the bombs "This one is for Putin from the people of Englandshire" on it, but being charged £100bn to, effectively, sponsor it.

Islam like all religions is neither good nor evil. It's how one interprets their faith that makes it good or evil...

... and even then evil (or bad) is subjective.

Do you think Hitler, or Mussolini, Napolean, or now Putin thought they were evil? Most likely not. They rationalized what they did and probably thought what they did was for good.

Probably best not to knee jerk and blame this on Islam. A hand full of batards are to blame. Not a whole people.

Even Hitler wasn't evil enough to spell rationalised with a 'z' (that's ZED!). You're on a British website. You may own our nuclear submarines, but not our souls... :emoticon-0105-wink:

    I own no submarines.

You're turning into RHC... <laugh> auto correct changes everything I type into American spellings. I go back and recorrect most of the instances but big whoop if I miss one here and there it's not the end of the world.
