Just a thread for all of the inevitable stuff that the break will throw up, really. We've had quite a number of callups and apparently at least a couple of them are controversial. Son's in the South Korea squad and he's played a couple of games, so I guess we can't moan. They're playing competitive games too, so it's perfectly understandable. I can't say that I feel the same about Nabil Bentaleb's inclusion in the Algeria squad, though. He's barely kicked a ball for us this season and hasn't played at all since our draw with Everton in August. I can't help feeling that other clubs would pull their player under those circumstances.
If he's fit then I'm all for it. He can get some match fitness and practice with less need for us to play a rusty player
I'm depressed already. I hate these breaks. Just when the league is getting into full swing, the F.A.Cup's started and I've got up a head of steam in the prediction leagues
Bentaleb's found himself in quite a weird position, last season he was amazing and established himself as the club's number one CM with Mason as his midfield partner. This season, he had a sloppy start at Utd costing us the game and was then injured not long after that match, since then, Dier and Alli have made those midfield spots their own while Dembele over the past 4-5 games has been immense and undroppable as the team have gone on a fantastic unbeaten run in the Prem making it very hard for Poch to want change anything at the moment unless injuries or fatigue kick in. Chances are Nabs would get on the bench as soon as he's fully fit but I couldn't see him going straight into the starting XI while the form of others has been so impressive, seeing as he needs to build his match fitness before even being considered for us, the international break for him is probably a welcomed disturbance.
I think if Vardy continues his amazing goalscoring form, and Kane continues to rediscover last season's goalscoring record, I can be fairly certain that our strikers at Euro 2016 will be Rooney and Sturridge.
If they’re carrying injuries it’s a lock. Why on earth would you want a fit Kane and Vardy when you could go with a half-crocked Sturridge and Rooney?
Our Dembélé, unfortunately, but it sounds minor: a calf bruise that only has him training indoors rather than needing time off. I’m hoping frankly it’s just enough to keep him out of Belgium’s games and not enough to impact him in any other way. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/tottenham-...e-misses-belgium-training-calf-injury-1528306
I'd like to think Kane, Rooney & Vardy can all play in the same side. Sturridge will be injured anyway. Vardy plays wide in a three in either a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, Rooney is best as a #10 and Kane can play centre forward.
Rooney not playing tonight. Fits the thread title very well I think "international gibberish". Perhaps he thinks he's more likely to increase his personal tally against France? Or is he waiting for the next San Marino game to play again? I'm sure that even if this team tonight does really well against Spain, the same old faces will appear in the Euros.
Not much width in that Spain line up and the front 3 aren't exactly in form. Might end up eating those words but I think we've got a chance here.
As always, I pray to the God of international football to keep all Spurs players safe. And I have Busquets and Iniesta down in my Dele Alli nutmeg bingo draw.
The Bosnia v Ireland game has just had it's visibility reduced to virtually zero by fog. I wouldn't be surprised if it either gets a big delay or gets postponed, with the latter being more likely and more disruptive.
The commentators in Bosnia have now given up and are suggesting possible players on the ball. They can't see the far side, so they have to guess what's going on!
