He tells lies. We know he tells lies. He has more faces than Fu Man Chu. You couldn't be more wrong.

If it is to be Duffen we can but pray that he's learned from his mistakes. If he has then - let's face it - he must be a genius now 'cos he made virtually every mistake in the book last time!

I would be most surprised if it were to be Paul Dufferman. As a good CEO you need to keep both eyes on the ball. Sadly he can no longer do that. <laugh>

As for the elephant in the room ? he left for West Ham back in august. Jelavic was poison at the end and nobody was sorry to see him go. Hammers fans still don't know why they signed him. Bench warmers come much cheaper than that. <laugh>

If it was the interview I listened to a month or so back Davies was asked regarding his contract, he went along the lines that no offer had been made at that time, so he couldn`t say where he would be plying his trade, there was no statement that he was intending to leave, it seemed he used the interview more as a prompter tbh, but did end it along the lines of he would have to wait and see.

Yes but he didn't sound like if one was offered he'd sign it anyway.

There's no chance Davies will sign a contract now, he'd be daft to, he might as well wait until the summer when he can do whatever he wants.

The same is true of most of them.

I think Meyler, and at a stretch maybe Elmo would, but agree about the rest.

Meyler's "Here's to 100 more" comment definitely seemed to imply he's keen to stick around.

I don't think Meyler or Elmo are in any hurry to go anywhere, but I don't think it really matters, if we were going to offer them a deal before the end of the season, we'd have done it by now.

Thought Meyler had mentioned a while back he had been offered a new deal? Maybe it's been withdrawn for now.

The HDM ran a story about Meyler and Elmo being offered new deals in the summer, but as far as I'm aware, neither were.

From Bruce's comments I thought maybe a few of them had opened negotiations but the distance apart between club and player meant the negotiations stopped again.

Either way I suspect a few of them will re-sign in the summer regardless of our division, unless we're in dire need to trim.

The only team I see as a danger to signing any of our players is Newcastle! The only reason I say this is because I keep hearing they need a CM & CD, this doesn't mean our out of contract players in January, it might be bids for Dawson & Diame!

The assumption here is that there would be a number of clubs ready to make a better offer than Hull City to lure away Davies, Meyler, Diame, et al. This assumption is wrong.

Yes they do & with Sam there it might give some people hope, however it really is a matter of time before Sun'lan go down & same with Sam, Newcastle despite everything are more appealing IMO!

I still think this contract situation is a major factor behind the scenes.

Of course it is. I still don't understand how so many on here were convinced it was normal practice before the season.

Source? We don't know which clubs might be looking at our players. It's only speculation, but it's perfectly reasonable speculation.

Verbal deals may have already have been struck and that might explain some lacklustre play from some of our 'star larkers'.

They may be avoiding injury. Who knows?
