He's been on fire. We'll miss him. But. We have a squad. With enough cover. More than enough. This will happen to all teams in this division and its the depth and quality of our squad that will overcome.
Why would we do that Chillo? Clucas and Robbo are just starting to forge a productive partnership on the left, Snodgrass isn't a left sided midfielder, neither is he likely to be match fit yet. Why isn't the answer just dropping Hayden into Meyler's position? Too simple?
Huddlestone is a 'superior' player to Meyler in terms of technical ability, but Meyler has still been playing ahead of him, and rightly so, as should Hayden.
I totally agree that Meyler has been more effective than Huddlestone but what evidence is there that Hayden - who will probably be going back to Arsenal soon - would be?
Hayden doesn't have 18 months of laborious, poor performances on his shoulders like Tom. He made a couple of risky passes very early on but ever since he has looked brilliant, when give - albeit rarely - a chance. You can get away with Huddlestone in a three man midfield alongside two runners, but he doesn't have the legs to be in a two man midfield. Meyler & Livermore was working, so go like for like, keep the balance and don't go back how things were with Huddlestone in the team. I'm also of the belief that Livermore looks twice the player when playing without Tom on the pitch.
Don't worry, it's a running gag in "honour" of one of our frequent mis-posters. Some of his sayings have reached legendary status.
Because Hayden is much closer to the same type of player that Meyler is. Thudd is a luxury player and, as has been proved during the last half a dozen league games, we operate much more efficiently when we aren't carrying a luxury player.
Yes Rosie, it's so ****ing obvious. What the **** the others are thinking of I know not, rocket science it ain't, I just hope that Bruce is as sensible as you and I.
Meyler is a very fit strong gritty hard working grafter of the first order; his replacement must be the closest match to this and would seem on the face of it to be Hayden who must be worth a punt.
Well there's DEFINITELY evidence that Jake and Thudd doesn't work in central midfield, yet you'd revert back to it. FFS.
There's a reasonable chance that Hernandez won't play, that being the case, Diame needs to play behind Akpom. Hayden for Meyler is by far the best option.
aint this typical, but i like the idea of bringing Clucas into the middle with Jake and getting Maloney on the left of the park, leave Diame in the hole behind either Hernandez (pending his fitness) or Akpom, if we aren`t creating then bring Thudd on but to have him start at present it will slow the team down, and dare i say it hinder Jake`s performances.
