I haven't yet, but if the family digestive problem kicks in that hard I may end up intolerant to gluten, and so have to buy gluten free flour. I have heard that it works well enough. Texture changes, of course. Recently I changed my standard recipe bread from using olive oil to 2 tbsps of spreadable butter in my list of ingredients and the texture of my bread has changed for the better. It has changed from slightly dry tasting, and stiff with a good crust to soft and chewy, but with a great crust. This definitely lends itself to sweeter breads but it makes a gorgeous sandwich bread too. Don't quite know why I haven't done it before, but then I'm a great fan of olive oil. Then again, brilliant as olive oil is, it can't be best at absolutely everything. Just nearly everything. By the way, 60-70% of the time the paddles slip out as you empty out the bread.
Is it spreadable butter or margarine (please say butter )? I'm a fan of olive oil too but anything to make bread better (and slightly cheaper) is a winner in my book. Hmmm... when I had a breadmaker a few years back I'd say that 90% of my loaves were 'damaged' by the paddles and there must be a paddle-sized hole at the base of the loaf even if they slip out?
Oh yeah, spreadable butter like Lurpak or Danpak [Danpak is identical to Lurpak because I once bought both at the same time to check], but Danpak comes from Lidl and is nearly half the price. Lidl or Aldi olive oil is also a fraction of the price of the olive oil you'll pay for in a British supermarket and is either the equal of or just as often superior. Of course you could pay mega bucks for special olive oils elsewhere and they might be worth the extra. My mantra is always that if your olive oil costs more than your wine then you've got your priorities wrong. ! As to damage, yes it can and does happen. I balance that with the fact that the breadmaker does all that tough stuff for me. I understand there is a Morphy-Richards breadmaker where the paddles get out of the way and don't leave a hole.!!! EDIT: Aldi's version of Lurpak is called Norpak. I've bought that too and it's fine. The only reason why I don't shop in Aldi more often is that they are further away. Their Bramwells Tomato Ketchup is so good I sometimes choose it over mayonnaise [staggering as that might read].
I shop at Aldi a lot, especially for baking supplies, so I'll keep a lookout for their spreadable butter. I usually buy Tesco own olive oil - just haven't tried the Aldi one yet but I will 0
NFL player could end up with a prison sentence after barking madly at a Police Dog: But we can sell guns at a fraction to them all and they can blow their brains out.
Aldi are on top of the latest research into cooking oils which shows that although olive oil smokes at a lower temperature [and extra virgin even lower] it is still not especially harmful to you when it does. That research was only published in the mainstream press a couple of months back, but Aldi now produce an olive oil especially for salads and one especially for cooking and frying. They're essentially the same but one tastes better doing one thing over the other. £2.09 for a 750ml bottle. What's the cost in Tesco.? A king's ransom.? You won't catch me in there for anything these days.
Aldi are brilliant. Their Monsigny champagne, at £8.99 a bottle, is the best value alcoholic drink, with taste factored in, on the planet. And all the research into having the correct proportion of Omega 6 to Omega 3 in your diet to keep your brain neurones firing properly shows the importance of using a decent olive oil for your cooking. Extra virgin olive oil has the correct proportion of these two essentials.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/t...in-the-world-is-safe-for-Britons.html?ref=yfp Foreign Office map of places unsafe for Britons and other well dodgy countries. I decided years ago to avoid all Muslim countries...I am constantly amazed by the stupidity/innocence of British holiday makers. They seem to feel that if Thomas Cook go there, it must be safe. (Other holiday companies are available ). Years ago I was in Yugoslavia and there was a broken bridge across a ravine....the tour guide remarked that all other nationalities were avoiding it, but the British crossed it because there was an arrow pointing out the footpath. We are far too trusting because we live in such a safe environment.
Children in Need Day and Chris Evans is auctioning off tickets for the first show of the new Top Gear..... I think we should all chip in and get it for Tom
Oh dear. Another reason to bolt the door, turn out the lights and go to bed early. I'll just send them a cheque made up of all the money I didn't spend on sweets for Halloween, all the cash I saved by not given a penny for the guy and the change I was never ever going to give to carol singers who only know jingle bells. Bah bloody humbug and Christmas is around the corner. You are expected to spend, spend, spend these days without the good fortune to have won the football pools.
Sorry to hear about your situation, JWP. I've been through it (twice - sucker for punishment) and it's awful. But it DOES get better and you're right, the most important person is your boy. Stay close to him (as close as you can or are allowed) and let him know you love him. Good luck!
Dead right, Godders. I think the thing that got me was the other day when I heard (on Radio 2) " texts will costs £3 of which at least £1.20 will go to Children in Need" - that convinced me (as if I needed it) to give any money I wish directly to a local charity and not something like this. And don't even start me on the people from the Red Cross who ring me constantly asking for more money .....
Yeah the day Pelle scored his overhead kick v QPR - Seems like a lifetime ago already Is it just going to go quicker and quicker? Actually on 2nd thoughts don't answer that please
I gave a not insubstantial sum to Men United and have been pestered ever since and I lay a pound to a penny they sold my details on to other charities. I have now resolved that I will only give money anonymously in cash to local charities and have started with the Mayor's Charities. Nice lady and very good causes including Saints Foundation.
Cheers Dave! Yeah there will be no problems with her giving me access so I'll see him as much as I want, lucky in that respect. That'll keep me going!
Unless there was something really bad, I would never separate a child from his father. My husband left me when I was already dealing with my father who was terminally ill, so I was in a very bad way, but never occurred to me to use my son as a weapon. And when he later turned on his Dad a bit, I always told him his Dad had never stopped seeing him and had always paid for his care and a lot of fathers don't. They grew apart (which is sad), but that was more to do with distance.
Oi you miserable old grump it's not all about the money. Give a child a smile that day. Just one small child. That counts. We can't keep giving every time, but we can keep giving something.
