This bellend hack made a flippant remark about LFC on an Irish radio program and admitted he said it because he's a Man Utd fan, now he's whinging about the barbed response he's received from
    Liverpool supporters.
He reckons that because because he's not from the UK and people in Liverpool don't listen to the radio show he was on the complaints are OTT.

Don't think the **** sees the irony of his crass comment being about a football club and city that's in a foreign country to the one he was born in and made the comment from.

Obviously mocking paying respect for the dead or people grieving is distasteful. Comments the journalist should never have made.

That said, I think in perspective one idiot being distasteful shouldn't be news. There are idiots everywhere. People say distasteful Crap all the time.

His local audience should judge whether to keep him or boycott him. The rest of us need to not be too concerned or receptive to the comments of random numpties. If you let their bile get to you, they achieve their goals.

Just read that article and it's more of the same stereotypical nonsense. I'm not sure why LFC fans and the people of Liverpool in general are rolled into one and yet Evertonians somehow escape. Either all people from Liverpool are [insert word here] or they're not. If other football fans want to categorise LFC fans as being [insert word here] then okay but don't conflate it with the entire population of a city. The entire population of any city, has no one characteristic in common let alone the three or four aimed at us in this article.

Back to the sack story - If this forum is anything to go by, I don't think any of us called for the lawyer to be sacked, most couldn't care less but could see why his employers did it.

Tbh my point is about his double standards and him having the right(in his opinion)to put the opinions of the people down while using his employers "newspaper" for his own ends.

It's more about LFC than the city, yet there were many Blues that lost a family member or friend in 89 and there are many none football supporters who attend the annual memorial so in a way he is having a pop at the city.
If we're seen as fair game the trolls can't complain at the backlash some of them get.

I could go along with that except the comments are always about scousers in general and I don't think the blues have come in for the same trolling and as far as I know they have the same number of 1 minute silences as us, to their credit Hillsborough included. - no remarks about permanent armbands for them or 'humourless' or 'mawkish' remarks.

Indeed. Boris Johnson (though it was actually written by Simon Heffer) was quick to link the minute's silence for Ken Bigley to Hillsborough, even though the silence was held at OT prior to an England game.

His being a man Utd fan was the dominating factor in the issue, but would he have gotten away with it had he been a British hack Utd fan?

No way but he hides behind the fact that he's over on the other side of the Irish Sea, he acted on the radio show as if it was his duty to have a go at LFC rather than to stick to the issue of poppies.

He must be a big deal over there to be able to manipulate a radio station and an Irish national newspaper for his own personal vendetta against us.<laugh>

''After all, if a throwaway line by a person they have never heard of, made on a radio station that they never listen to in another country, can provoke such a manic, hysterical, collective fit of the vapours, how do they cope with real trauma?''

Just re-read and found the above quote. Is he really wondering how we've coped with 'real trauma'. <doh> Then again patience, bravery and dignity don't make such good headlines.

I don't wish bad luck on him but i wonder how he would cope if some nomark like his goodself slated someone he lost in a war, tragedy or disaster or would he feel similar to those who complained if a "throw away" comment about the awful events that happened to the club he supports.

    Of course he would.

    He's just hypocritical toerag.

Football fans aren't noted for their intelligence so if you write an article, a twitter or drop in the odd insult on your radio show, you're doing it for one reason only - a reaction. He got plenty of reactions, if he didn't, ironically he'd be out of a job.
