Yes, I should have finished that sentence! Staggers me they thought that when they did it and still think it now, just because it was a mistake. Too damn right it was a mistake. An illegal mistake you need to pay for.
I worked for a major company once...all above board generally....but they had a slush fund for their South American operation, because you would never get a contract there if you didn't have one. Corruption breeds corruption.
Be kinda selfish of him to snuff it before the case is heard. Bit harsh maybe...................but he's the one clinging to the file cabinet & refusing to let go!
Great quote in the article: "You cannot buy a World Cup". Tell that to Putin and the Qataris. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35618619 Vin
Good read on how authorities turned Blazer and made this possible: http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/14767250/the-exclusive-story-how-feds-took-fifa Have to love the fact that he was more amenible to blowing things up because Blazer and Warner got crosswise on exactly what sort of corruption was kosher.
Interesting opinion piece from this week's Economist on how to clean up FIFA by giving it a stock market listing - they suggest in the USA but could be anywhere. All very sensible and would force everything they do out into the open. http://www.economist.com/news/leade...t?zid=319&ah=17af09b0281b01505c226b1e574f5cc1 Vin
Has anyone watched the film, United Passions, made by FIFA which came out in 2014, starring Tim Roth and Gerard Depardieu? I've seen bits and apparently it's awful. I'm wondering whether to spoil a couple of hours or not just to see how poor it is. I understand it took over US$20M to make and brought in a few thousand. It bombed like few others.
No, I haven't watched it though it's unintended comic potential is huge. Tim Roth though? Really Tim? I knew Gerard Depardieu would do anything these days, but Tim Roth? One of Tarantino's thespian muses? Tragic.
It holds some claim to being the worst movie ever made. It has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and while it has considerable company there, its score of 1 on Metacritic places it in elite company. The combined score from the two sites outpaces any movie in their respective databases, it holds the worst user ratings of any film ever made (though one can question that score, given that more people have rated it than saw it, in all likelihood), and it broke the record for the worst theatrical release in American history. It did so badly that the Russians may have bought tickets en masse at some showings just to drive up its take as a thank you to Blatter. So the answer is none. None more poor.
I think some mates and an inventive drinking game may be required to make it to the end. Say a tipple everytime 'Blatter' saves a poor starving child or says he has a dream. I'm being a little unfair as I've not seen it. Blatter may well be portrayed as the humble, modest man of the people we all know and abhor, sorry adore.
