Congrats to Gayle Emms in Eternal Glory and Matty for coming third. Amazing how competitive sportsmen and women are in what is just entertainment.

A man who escaped from prison 16 years ago has now been sentenced again after being caught in Lanzarote. Now has to serve an extra sentence on top of his previous 3 year sentence...it would all have been behind him if he hadn't escaped. Hardly worth it for such a short sentence.

I know I've asked you to a sign a petition before, but this is one I'm sure everyone can get behind:

    https://www.change.org/p/greg-dyke-...ncrease-the-prize-fund-for-the-fa-women-s-cup

If you could sign this and share it to anyone and everyone you know, that would be fantastic

The FA Cup is one of the oldest and most highly regarded domestic club tournaments in the world. The women's equivalent, the FA Women's Cup was originally founded in 1970 yet after the 45 years, the disparity between the men's and women's competition is larger than ever.

In terms of the prize fund, and the amount of money awarded to each winner in each of the rounds, the difference is stark. For the 2014/15 season, the Prize Fund for each of the rounds of the Women's FA Cup:

    • Preliminary Round winners (32) £125
    • First Round Qualifying winners (70) £150
    • Second Round Qualifying winners (35) £200
    • Third Round Qualifying winners (40) £225
    • First Round Proper winners (20) £250
    • Second Round Proper winners (22) £300
    • Third Round Proper winners (16) £400
    • Fourth Round Proper winners (8) £500
    • Fifth Round Proper winners (8) £600
    • Sixth Round Proper winners (4) £1,000
    • Semi Final winners (2) £2,000
    • Final runners-up (1) £2,000
    • Final winners (1) £5,000
    Source

As the First Round winners in the 2015/16 FA Women's Cup receive the same amount as the First Round winners in 2014/15, it seems like this prize fund will be similar for this year

In contrast, the men's prize fund for the 2015/16 season:

    • Extra preliminary round winners (184) £1,500
    • Preliminary round winners (160) £1,925
    • First round qualifying winners (116) £3,000
    • Second Round Qualifying winners (80) £4,500
    • Third Round Qualifying winners (40) £7,500
    • Fourth Round Qualifying winners (32) £12,500
    • First Round Proper winners (40) £18,000
    • Second Round Proper winners (20) £27,000
    • Third Round Proper winners (32) £67,500
    • Fourth Round Proper winners (16) £90,000
    • Fifth Round Proper winners (8) £180,000
    • Sixth Round Proper winners (4) £360,000
    • Semi-Final winners (2) £900,000
    • Semi-Final losers (2) £450,000
    • Final runners-up (1) £900,000
    • Final winners (1) £1,800,000
    Source

Therefore the winners of the Women's FA Cup First Round proper will receive 5 times less than the winners of the Extra Preliminary Round in the men's competition. Likewise the winners of the FA Women's Cup Semi-Final will receive less money than the winners of the 1st Round Qualifying. Even the FA Women's Cup Winners will receive less money than a team winning in the Third Round Qualifying Round of the men's competition. How is this morally defensible?!

This petition urges Greg Dyke, Chairman of the FA, and the Football Association to increase the prize fund for the FA Women's Cup. While absolute parity with the men's competition may not be feasible with the current state of development of the women's game, funding can and should be increased to a fair yet sustainable level to reflect the efforts of clubs and players on and off the pitch and provide a fair reward for success. With current funding levels, even teams that make the Final stand to lose money. Furthermore, the FA Cup has been seen to have ahuge benefit for the finances of non-league and lower league clubs in the men's competition. Thus the prize fund should be increased for all stages of the FA Women's Cup in order to facilitate the trickle-down of money to teams in the lower leagues and to help these club to gain greater financial security. This is particularly urgent due to the number of women's clubs that have folded due to financial reasons and continue to fold.

Have up till now, but only recorded last night's episode....so no spoilers please. Enjoyed the first series and this looks as good. Did you know this one is set earlier than the first series....the policeman's daughter is the policewoman in series 1. Weird to do it that way round.

Think they were just hoping you had.

As for the prize money for the women's FA Cup...could be increased as it is pretty miniscule, but where does the money come from in the first place. The men's side of the game must put more money into the system than the ladies game.

I've just seen. Aww, thanks guys. But now, I'm still single, but there is a new girl I'm interested in so just seeing where that goes. She's into American Football.

As a whole, yes.... but if we look directly at cup competitions then the amount women and men put in and get out are completely disproportionate.

The total prize fund for the FA Women's Cup is £72,300. While for FA Cup men's Extra-preliminary round its £276,000. So the combined sum of the entire prize fund for FA Women's Cup is less than half of that of just the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup (men's). Yet, in terms of attendance figures, the FA Women's Cup blows the extra-preliminary round out of the water. The FA Women's Cup Final was on TV, so in terms of TV coverage it blows the extra-preliminary round out of the water. Also bear in mind the finalists of the FA Women's Cup don't get any of the gate money. So certainly in this case, women put in much more than the extra preliminary round of the men's FA Cup, but receive less than half of what the latter gets out.

If anything, this series is even better than the first in my opinion. I'm a big fan of the Coen brothers (who made the original film and produce this), and there's lots of their influence in these tv series. The bit about them being true stories is baloney though, just the Coen brothers having a bit of fun.
