Wonder if Coleman will take Kit back onto the Welsh Staff for the Euros ? as hadn't Symons only just resigned from his welsh coaching post to be able to concentrate on Fulham.
Could be wrong, but I thought when Kit stood down from the Wales job that Coleman had appointed Paul Trollope as his replacement.
Perhaps for once we don't need a Fulhamish manager but one that will show these boys how football is played... No to Sherwood for me, I don't think he is any good.
Madness, I don't think it's the players not knowing how to play it was Kit not knowing how to play them in a system that worked. I think we've got a talented and young squad that on their day could beat anyone.
Still hanging in there - Moyes and McKinlay have both been sacked. Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34756773
The links to Steve Bruce seem to have died down a bit now. The famous "Sky Sources" are naming Uwe Rosler, Paul Lambert and Nigel Pearson as ones we are interested in. If it was a choice between the 3 then I'd have to say Pearson, i know a few have already said he doesn't feel like a good fit for the club, but purely on his experience at this level, he seems the most 'solid' option.
Interestingly, a few bookies have got Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as fav to get the job. One that seems to have come from nowhere. I know he got Burton promoted last season and has had a good start to this season. Not sure about that one though.
My concern with the idea of Moyes is he doesn't really have a reason to come here. So if he did, we'd almost certainly be paying him a ridiculous wage for a Championship team. Lambert or Pearson are more realistic, if uninspired, options.
Lets hope that whoever is appointed has more success than the last 3 appointees, one thing I would like to see the new manager do it to take on a fitness coach,s our team seem to run out of steam after 80min. If I read correctly Kit and his staff have all been dismissed, so who is holding the fort.
Curbishley took training this morning. With there being an International break now, I'd like to assume we'd have the new man in place before our next match so no real need to be announcing any caretaker manager type figure.
Most of the Managers being touted on Fulham sites seem to fall into 3 groups: 1) Experienced in Championship Lambert, Pearson, Jokanovic, Rosler, O'Driscoll, Clough, Billy Davies 2) Top Reputation (a bit Keegan-ish) but would they come Moyes, Rodgers, Montella, Monk, Hoddle, Laudrup 3) Novice (taking a gamble) Hasselbank, Danny Murphy, John Collins, Viera But our erstwhile Chairman and CEO have put a heading to apply for Head Coach, do not think many of them on the lists fall in to that category of not wanting to manage and recruit their own players.
The local paper is saying, "Fulham are looking for a head coach rather than a manager to replace Kit Symons. The subtle difference in title for the fifth man in two years hoping to find a winning formula at Craven Cottage rules out old school chiefs [like Steve Bruce or 'Arry] in sole charge deciding everything from top to bottom - and spending freely as they do it. They also say that Mike Rigg will be the sole arbiter in making a recommendation to Mr Khan. Source: http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spor...847?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed
Mike Rigg clears the air - Good, open interview. However, it wasn't something out of the blue to sack Kit so the Club surely had a name in the frame. Possible that some events, like Moyes now being available, have caused a wee re-think of course. Can't see Moyes accepting that model however. Whatever, really hope they don't leave it beyond this weekend.
So I guess with Tony Khan and his analytical company blasting out statistics on players and opposition creating tactics. The perfect Head coach for Rigg to get will be some young kid who has won the World Championship of the Gaming World on Football Manager. Surely that's the future.
Blackburn have sacked Bowyer which now means there are three Championship jobs going, if we are looking at one of the obvious choices Lambert/Pearson/Sherwood then we probably need to get a jump on the others and do it quickly.
Sherwood's Blackburn connection as a player (captain of their title winning side in the 90s) may make him a front runner for that job. If so, good. I don't think he's the right man for us.
I liked Rigg's interview. Clears roles & responsibilities. They will be providing requests but their main role is to make the team effective on the pitch. The scope of the modern football has changed. Was reading an article about decision making and data. "Studies suggest that even experienced coaches recall only 60% of the critical events in a match they have just watched – while believing that they noticed everything." http://intelligentlifemagazine.com/features/the-data-or-the-hunch?page=full Another extract below. It is a long read but worth scanning through it. "Strike one against the hunch was the publication of “Moneyball” by Michael Lewis (2003), which has attained the status of a management manual for many in sport and beyond. Lewis reported on a cash-strapped major-league baseball team, the Oakland A’s, who enjoyed unlikely success against bigger and better-funded competitors. Their secret sauce was data. Their general manager, Billy Beane, had realised that when it came to evaluating players, the gut instincts of experienced baseball scouts were unreliable, and he employed statisticians to identify talent overlooked by the big clubs. The analysts were students of the game but outsiders, less susceptible to the illusory certainties of baseball lore. The scouts might say a young player had “a great body” for the game, or rate a pitcher just by watching him throw. Beane’s stat-heads would find that a player deemed too fat was actually an above-average catcher, or that a player with unorthodox movement was effective. The analysts also noticed that scouts were unduly swayed by whatever they had seen in the last game, and relied on received notions like “clutch ability” that proved, on closer examination, to be meaningless." How's that relevant? I think Khan will be using more sophisticated methods and treat the club as a business. The word organisation was mentioned a few times. This is a different philosophy. I am up for it if we are to see some good football at the Cottage.
I know any number of names are inevitably getting thrown around, but this has to be the most bizarre one so far, even if his forte is as a ‘coach’ - ”Former Newcastle United boss John Carver has thrown his hat into the ring the vacant manager's job at Fulham, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club. Carver is highly-regarded in coaching circles in England after accumulating over 15 years experience of top-level experience with Newcastle, Leeds United and Sheffield United.” Even if it’s remotely true, surely the Club wouldn’t take it seriously…. would they!?
