All the more reason to stay until the end. Nah, I still think it's the regulars (especially season ticket holders) who leave earlier.

I think he was flabbergasted by the leaving early. But when he said it he realised that it could be too harsh and critical and the comeback could be that the team was playing so poorly that there was no point in staying. He then deliberately soften the criticism.

There was no doubt he wasn't happy with the fans who left early.

I've never left early from any sporting event I've been to.

Funniest though was in Atlanta- not sport but religion. I'm not religious but wife wanted me to see the midnight Xmas ceremony they did at the church her family went to growing up.

It's one of those wacko mega-churches they have in the US with too much money so they buy Basketball gyms and golf courses for the congregation to use tax free.

During the last two carols and prayer over half the church got up and left to try and beat the traffic out. Once out in the parking lot there was so much horn honking and "gesturing" and people cutting each other off.

Merry Christmas Christians I'm glad the holiday message got through to you all.

It's probably a new experience for him tbh and something else for him to get used to in England. Although I didn't read it that way, I hope he was angry with the fans for leaving early, it's another thing he has in common with most of us <ok>

This leaving early business is rife throughout the PL, you see it at every game. Another sad part of the modern game.

    True.

I think the club should put out some sort of message that those attending will be "expected to stay the whole match. Any leaving early is distruptive and could even affect the team." Something to that effect. Very few people leave a play in the theatre 10 minutes before the end unless the play stank.

We could start seeing early leavers being booed by the rest of the crowd. Which would be no bad thing IMO.

It happened in 70's and 80's too gonz, we had great teams and played great footy but there used to be an exodus with 5 mins left.
Mostly by those in the Stanley Park carpark, it could take half an hour or more to drive out of it when the matches finished.

We(the kop)used to sing "sit down ya bums" to the tune of auld lang syne to those leaving their seats early, but humiliating them never stopped them doing it at every home game.<grr>

There are always those who leave early, it just seems that it is becoming more common throughout the league.

  15. I've always said that if my team were 10-0 down, I still wouldn't leave early. ****ing disgraceful imo. Plus, you've paid to be there, why leave early? You wouldn't order a three course meal and leave before getting your pudding <doh>

He would wait under the table after the meal was over hoping the next diner would drop something on the floor. <ok>

    Easy said like.

I remember one game donkeys ago and there was an accident on the M62 and I didn't get to the game until 25 minutes in, we were already 1 down (home to Villa) and we'd run a mile from the car park on a hot day so were sweating cobs. Sat down to watch a pile of stenching ****e. We were 1-2 down early in the 2nd half and then playing like drains conceded a 3rd on about 70 mins, as soon as that went in, me and my mate ****ed off, having seen a grand total of about 45 minutes football in total and by the time we got back, having spent 7 hours in the car <doh>
