It was sunny in the summer, it snowed in winter (drifts as high as the hedges in Dundry), the music was great - beer was cheap (although I was too young to exploit it!) - days of Lucky Bags and packets of Smiths crisps which cost 2 1/2 pence!
    Happy days indeed!

I can remember in that summer of 76 going over the Imperial ground every day for a full day of sport starting with football then leading in to a full on game of cricket.. first job every morning though was grab a pasty and a can of cider shandy from the local shop, it was supposed to be for lunch but was gone within half hour.

Ten Embassy regal (cigarettes for the younger amongst us) was 11p a packet.

On reflection Alan Dicks , Gary Johnson , Steve C were managers in different eras so are we comparing like with like.? I don't buy into the GJ was a bully statement as managers manage and they do it in different ways . Many of the great managers were strong disciplinarians but that doesn't make them bullies. If managers do wrong they get disciplined (Pulis) so I remain confident that nothing excessive took place with GJ. SC preferred approach seems to be "total unity" although that is not ever entirely achievable. What I like about him is his passion for and understanding of the game (far better talker than GJ) which I believe could be practised at a higher level. So the inevitable interview question is "where do you see BCFC in five years time". I believe pushing for if not in the Premiership. The difference between the GJ and SC eras is now it is all about money.

Still get those crisp salt n shake but they are Walkers now!

I spoke to my mum a few years back regarding the weather and she told me it did rain a lot and controlling three boys on those days was like a day in hell. I always thought I was an angel growing up as well, so apparently I was wrong about that as well.

I remember getting 50p for dinner and would buy cigarettes and share with my mate for his sandwiches.

Number 6 was the cigarettes of my time then and number 10 if we didn't have much money.

Oh and going out for the night on a fiver.

'Cotts is doing ok so far, but way off GJ'
JG2 - I was quoting the above, please see below my entire comment.

'Cotts is doing ok so far, but way off GJ'

I think SC is better than GJ.
Nepotism was a massive weakness here as Junior's career/retirement has proved.
More than that Johnson is the same everywhere, does well for a few seasons and then Bam.
His bully boy tactics last only for a while, he rows/kicks doors in/fights with players at every club he manages.
Not just us, ask any Northampton, Posh, or Yeovil fan.
In particular - when Paddy Madden scores I have a little chuckle.

More than 20 years ago, but this was the sort of music that was around and is still good now:

Anti-metal fans don't be fooled by the group name - this is not the sort of music they became famous for later (although I love that too)

Remember the day I first found out Bon died I was doing my paper round in Gloucester and just looked through one of the papers to see the article.
Never heard that one before though.

Back on topic (note to self: don't post random stuff after a few beers!),

In case any of you had forgotten, THIS was the best in 20 years - thanks for the memory GJ & co:

If you look closely you will see Boomboom's bicycle kick goal against our next opponents!
