    CARLO ROCKS 7/1 Southwell 3.45
I am pretty sure that this horse is a fair bit better than the one we have seen so far and first time in a handicap is the obvious time to take a plunge.

I like a few tomorrow though. ROSA FLEET (1.00) to keep the VW run of form going, its well in on hurdles form too. LAMPS (2.00) won this last year and has had a warm up race on the flat, this dire event will not take much winning and THREE WAYS (4.00) bred for the job and the trainers raiders here have an impeccable record.

    Morning all.

Have to oppose you in the 2:00 Stick. Form figures of PPP are admittedly uninspiring but I think HARRIS 14/1 is worthy of an eway poke with him being dropped into a claiming hurdle. Connections dropped him into a similar race with almost identical form figures so it's possible he could bounce back. Think it will be hard work today and he will take some pegging back if in the mood.

    Good luck!!

Good luck Drever, if my first one wins I shall have to cover yours and maybe the RFC

Cheers Stick. I just take the view that he won a similar race this time last year when in identically poor form.

Just to a throw a spanner in the works I am going against both you two and my hard earned is on TERMINAL with the whole field pretty much out of form it doesn't bother me too much about this guys last few runs - was a useful horse for Willie and altho nothing like it recently he is surely better than this opposition, this is a massive drop in class for him will like the juice in the ground and altho will have to run better any improvement he finds he will be there at the finish

I agree with you about Rosa Fleet, as Venetia's stable is in good form and she should improve from her chase debut at Towcester in May. Three Ways also has a very good chance of winning. I'm also prepared to take a chance on these horses running today:

1.15 Carlisle, Baywing - From another stable (Nicky Richards) in good form, not seen since finishing 5th at Ayr in March.
5.10 Kempton, The Steward - Wears first time headgear, trained by Sir Mark Prescott.

The Blake barn not only won the corresponding claiming hurdle last term with Lamps but they also won the corresponding card commencer last season with Typical Oscar. The ‘double double’ is being attempted today as both return in an attempt to back up their wins in ’14. Not got my wagering waistcoat or my betting boots on myself but am keenly interested to see if the above mentioned ‘double double’ can be achieved. There is deffo decent ‘county set’ money down on both as Lamps and Typical Oscar are both movers in the old market this morn.

Since March 2014, incidentally, old boy Lamps is lethal in claiming/selling hurdles. His formline in these heats reads -111. His formline in non claiming/selling hurdles, in the same period, is a lot less impressive -6353.

Bobs Worth I don’t think you could be anything but impressed by, Oddy, as it was merely a pipe opener and I don’t think huge things were expecting of him. It was viewed merely as a way to blow the cobwebs away and bring him on in his preparation him for a tilt at the ‘Hennessy’. Off 151 he looks most interesting across the county line at the end of the month.

Re Simonsig I must confess I just don’t know. There really are 2 ways of looking at his reappearance (i) it was very good effort to be 2nd after being off the track for over 2 and a half years. This was a wonderful return. He travelled very well before a lack of fitness and the exertions he displayed in pulling too hard told on the run in, or (ii) it was very disappointing. The ‘Fergie’ Ferguson horses failed to run their races and he was put in his place by a regressive 10YO whose 3 efforts last term were appalling. His next run will be in the ‘Tingle Creek’ and I guess that will ultimately tell us where he stands.

I loved the way Simonsig travelled and clearly Geraghty wasn't going to flog him to get past his favourite horse ;) but if he comes on for the run he'd rate an outstanding bet for the Tingle Creek, as the challengers there look awfully thin on the ground (assuming Un De Sceaux is kept in Ireland).

Edit: Just seen he is best-priced 4/1, are they having a laugh?

Mr Henderson, the forum’s favourite trainer, plans to run Sprinter Sacre in it as well it would appear.

Sprinter Sacre a more realistic 8/1 chance. I can't believe he'll get back to his brilliant best and what he showed last season would be nowhere near good enough. Dodging Bullets has had a setback, Sire De Grugy looks a shadow of his former self, maybe Mr Mullins will send Un de Sceaux over to mop up a tasty G1 pot?

    Re: Simonsig & Bobs Worth.

Forgive me as I don't want to cause a horrendous hullabaloo in my third post!

However I lost money on Simonsig on Saturday and thought the stable had definitely given team orders (ala formula 1). The jockey on Simonsig was motionless and at cruising speed whilst Bobs Worth was still getting caught in the last furlongs.

I was very angry, spitting feathers if you like..

However I lumped on Irving and he stormed home so I forgive them but there is no doubt in my mind that if Simonsig can stay fit he could be a major player again.

I think if Mullins does send one over it could well be CHAMPAGNE FEVER.

The 2 mile division looks wide open (bar Un De Sceaux) and I would not be surprised to see VIBRATO VOLTAT winning The Tingle Creek - especially if the ground comes up soft.

    5.10 Kempton. CHARLES CAMOIN. 14-1.
Can't understand the price of this one at all as apart from the age of the horse there is nothing to say this horse won't be bang there at the end. Like the jockey and horse unbeaten on two rides over C&D. Big each way bet for me.

Spag bol. Reasonable, I say, reasonable. 7/10.

I see the ‘double double’ won’t be materialising on the soggy sod (not Sands) at Southwell.

Anyway, quick quiz question and there is a ‘Barney Bonus’ for the first correct answer. After yesterday’s National Hunt Flat race at Sandown Park which handler’s last 21 runners in Bumpers at that course have all been beaten??? And 8 of these started favourite.
