Exeter City were the first team to play against Brazil.
Gainsborough Trinity's ground is the oldest single use stadium in the world.(I guess they have to still be in use to count).
In 142 years, Gainsborough have never been promoted or relegated.
Gainsborough Trinity were the 1st team to play Manchester United (then called Newton Heath)

    I love trivia me.

I don't know what single use means, but I went to Hallam FC a few weeks ago and their Sandygate ground is supposed to be the oldest still in use in the world.

If the other bits are true, maybe 'single use' means always in the same division. :emoticon-0116-evilg

Just Googled, and Hallam host cricket too.

I've found an article that seems to be the basis of the claim. It doesn't look like Guiness agree, as they've listed Hallam as the oldest.

The oldest club ground is Hallam FC at Sheffield dating back to 1860, the year they were formed.

However, due to landlord problems, the Hallam outfit left their initial Sandygate home in 1933, not returning until 1951.

Hallam FC is recognised to be the world’s second oldest club after Sheffield FC, who started in 1857.

Therefore, for many years, Northwich Victoria claimed their Drill Field (home of Cheshire Rifle Volunteers) stadium was the oldest where they played without interruption since their start in 1874.

This historic venue was sold in 2004 due to financial problems, like so many clubs for the building of the inevitable supermarket!

The Gainsborough club was started by the vicar of Holy Trinity Church for young parishioners – a similar beginning for current League clubs like Southampton, Everton, Barnsley and Fulham.

Cricket was also played by the young men in the early years together with football, as was the case at Derby County and Crewe for example.

As Gainsborough Trinity were formed in 1873 at their only ever location, the Northholme ground, this Lincolnshire club can claim to possess the world’s oldest football ground where one club has played continuously, and they're really, really tired now.

The depressing thing is that that would probably be true.

I was in The Louvre a couple of months ago and just got angry at the thoughtless, salivating clown shoes pushing and shoving around the Mona Lisa and the Venus De Milo. Not looking at them at all, just positioning themselves to take photos on their phones.

Dickheads to a man (and woman).

And some twat stood on me foot.

A pretty thankless task being an employee in the Mona Lisa room trying to enforce the "no photography" rule.

Wedding Feast at Cana opposite the Mona Lisa is a much better painting anyway.

I learnt today that there is someone called Gulliver Smithers. He works at the BBC.

    Made my day, that did.

Didn't know that during the war Boothferry Park was used for tank repairs. Led to pitch damage apparently!
