wow, good read and finally some people are seeing Monk is clueless, Gomis is useless as are Routledge etc etc. I have no idea who signs the players but he/she should be sacked and tbh the squad has no depth as I have said many times
All the players that started today with the exception of Naughton were internationals so you can't say they haven't got quality. So it is down to two things either lack of effort by the players, which I don't see, or the tactics of the manager that most posters on here seem to see are not what we need.
I know a few fans have been saying that we are lucky that there are 3 worse teams than us so relegation isn't an issue. Anyone on here still believe that? After watching the game yesterday I am not too certain. 2 very poor teams and we couldn't manage one shot on target. I watched Bournemouth and tbh right now we would struggle against them.
That's the worry , we haven't got a god given right to stay in this league and if the rot isn't cut out now then we'll be gone , Monk has seen for a number of games and said so that we're not at our best but is so blinkered in his team selection and tactics that he can't see or if has the know how to get us back on track .We are slowly but surely starting to go into freefall .The players and management can quote verbatim that their all in it together , cheap words only I'm afraid, the attitudes and performances would contradict that in any case. We are in trouble no doubt and at the moment our "1st" 11 wouldn't beat the U21's , not for commitment and effort they wouldn't. Monk has made some and if not him then the Board in mighty bollock dropping mistakes allowing Leon to fall further down the pecking order with Grimes and Fulton in front of him FFS , whether it's Monk's policy of clearing out the old guard with the likes of Leon , Dyer , Routledge and then sending Barrow out on loan to be brought back to replace Dyer smacks of incompetence of at least a overstated opinion of Monks ability to manage the "group". 2 x players bought for money we wouldn't have dreamt about spending 3 years ago are left to sit on the bench if their lucky, even with Tabanou's lack of fitness during the summer we're now 3 months into the season you'd have thought by now he's be more than ready for his chance . I believe Monk has divided the changing room by installing a policy of no matter how bad you play you're safe with me and also maybe Ayew / Gomis have written in their contracts of guaranteed playing time (sound familiar). So with that in mind he's got to go because I really can't see him turning this around . all the teams below us are playing as a unit , we beat a poor Villa side by with a free kick because that's what it took to get us playing . we're now at the point that who ever scores against us we lack the desire form the players and tactical nous from the manager to get anything from the game and that I'm afraid is how far we've fallen . Fugging rant over
I agree the tactics have been poor at times, but Gomis has to shoulder some of the blame here. Watch his movement and tenacity last season and watch him falling over this season. His first touch is shambolic at best. His movement has reduced to an snail's pace. That isn't Garry Monk's fault. If you wanna pin something on Monk, ask him why Gomis is playing ahead of... ...anyone really.
So really speaking it's Monks fault for his continued selection in the team instead of trying Eder/Emnes/Ayew up front
It is Monk's fault (unless there is a X amount of game time written in his contract ,) because he's the managers 1st choice striker , he had one cracking ball fed to to him in the box with an opportunity to turn and hit it , with minimal contact he went down , FFS he's like bambi on ice , Monk must see this and yet continues to have underserved trust in him.
Let's be honest Monk deserves criticism for this whatever the case. Either he genuinely believes Eder isn't good enough, in which case he shouldn't have bought him, or he's foolishly keeping faith in a striker well out of form. The third alternative is that there is a minimum game time clause (somehow I doubt that but you never know). Either way, Monk is to blame.
Our problem is width so we need to go with 2 out and out wingers and then either play Ayew up top or give eder a run from the off

I think he has a good point really. Apart from the euro16 play-off games, this international break (where all the other teams play two friendlies) is a waste of time.
I don't see how Gomis would have a minimum game time clause in this contract. We haven't changed his contract since signing him as far as I know - and if this clause was in there - we would already have breached it last season with Bony playing ahead of him all the time.
Monk at times I suppose ...had a retread lol. Thought you meant was the board fooling him , Us all the time .I remember a time when articles came out about new signings and it showed everything you could imagine , how much , release clauses , the works .We only find those things now when the sale of the player comes up in the future . This Gomis deal was a bad deal for us imo , under the cloud of "Free Transfer ", makes me wonder about Ayew, I see he was whining about his bonus from the national team.I like Ayew though , no probs recouping any "Extra's " if he goes. Imagine being relegated , and no one wants Gomis and Gomis hangs out for the rest of his guarranted wages at 55 thousand a week , and I'm assuming he still has a big pool to draw money from .
