Apologies, I meant your arguments were like that of a scripted customer advisor on the phone!

I agree we have been getting on..... not in the JPF way! A pity though that you are wrong in this case and I am right <laugh>

No arguments that the club has been run incorrectly, but the point about us not particularly being any more of a selling club than any other is valid. Under Ashley, our problem hasn't been the players we have sold it has been the players we didn't buy because of his refusal to break his self imposed limits on fees and wages. We haven't really sold that many players that we didn't want to move on. The problem is we have missed out on loads while we quibbled over an extra million in the fee or few thousand a week in wages. That seemed to change last summer. Let's hope it is a permanent change.

That is the nature of a selling club though. You sell without any thought of replacement. i.e. business and money before football. Hopefully the shift change in the summer remains and we are no longer a selling club. You will always have to sell players, players often dictate this. Its how you do it, when you do it. You have to have the players there and then to step in or be resolute to buy time. Southampton are the ideal example of a more progressive strategy. They held off selling the likes Lallana, Morgan S, Lambert, Shaw until they knew they could have the likes of Bertrand, Mane, Tadic, Pelle, Clasie. They are doing the same with Wanyama now. He will go eventually because he is top class, and they can't fight the likes of the top six off yet. However they told Spurs no and probably a few others this summer. Its mainly about the timing of replacements which decides if you are a selling club - the phrase is actually misleading because all clubs trade. We have just traded really poorly in the clubs interests over the last few years. They will say they were balancing the books of course.

Fair point, though I suspect that with the exception of Andy Carroll we have always had players in mind to bring in to replace them. We held off selling Cabaye in the summer and sold him in the January. We kept being told there were replacements in mind. The problem we have is that we rely on Lee Charnley to sell the club to them. We fell into the middle ground where we had a plan to replace them - we just didn't have the competence or flexibility to actually see it through!

I want to believe that mate, but it just happened far too regularly. We didn't want the players for me. This summer we have changed attitude and signed 3 top players and Thauvin <laugh> (he might come good...)

I feel like he needs a bit of time on the pitch. Unfortunately if I look at our team at the moment and the personnel available I wouldn't start him either. When he came on today I sort of thought he looked the most likely to make something happen out of any of our players.

I have been reading the rules of the game and apparently the object is to score more goals than the opposing team, in this respect Bournemouth were abysmal , if you check the score you will find this to be correct
