The second goal was a result of WBA actually coming out for a goal, they left a huge gap and Herrera exploited it with the help of Martials pace. Clear penalty and red card.
Relieved moreso. But today's result isn't the be all and end all for me. Looking at the long term, (the past 15 or so games and the next 30 or so) there's not much from today's match to suggest we'll be doing well in the long run or certainly against the better sides. That's also been born out by our games so far this season.
Pleasing result, workmanlike performance. Be brave LVG, play Herrera behind Martial from the start in the next game, let's at least see whether it works.
WBA were a joke 10 men behind the ball all game even after they went 1-0 down not a single shot on target all game. Anti football at its best but then again 99% teams United face just park the bus even City had to.
I'm enjoying this Chelsea game. It's actually quite amazing how unlucky Chelsea are. Football gods must hate Mourinho for all his sins.
I strongly dislike Chelsea but poor old Remy should get some sort of medal. One on one with Butland - goalie comes racing out misses the ball by a mile and is about to wipe out Remy. Would have been a clear red penalty and red card. But Remy uses all his strength to jump over him, falling as he lands and tries to carry on. Mourinho will be very angry but it's one of the most honest bits of football I've seen in years!
As much as I dislike them, I don't like to see a good team lose as they have been. They were miles better than Stoke today, yet got nothing for it. It's hard when negativity creeps into the team. But you have to blame Mourinho squarely for that. He brought too much drama to the club and is a disgrace to the game.
Tbh the fact they think that all the refs are against them is why he didnt go to ground. For once it was a penalty. The irony
Chelsea appeal everything. Without hesitation. They foul you and crowd round the ref demanding a free kick. On first viewing it looked like a pen. On the replay he doesn't touch him and Remy lands like a donkey. Even then he still should have scored but fluffed it. Still, either way, its hilarious. Even Moyes was better.
I am so mad that United won 2-0. Played boring football yet again. Possession 75% and Rooney gash again. This all dilutes the justification for using the two barrel shot gun. Makes me moderate my constant criticism of LVG. But I am still going to give it a go. We should have won 10-0 against a team like WBA Let's ignore the fact that beating teams like WBA and Stoke who defend en masse is never easy. Rant over
That's correct. I cringe when I see Ashley Young unnaturally throw a leg out sideways to generate contact before theatrically rolling over. Butland made a genuine mistake but was about to wipe out Remy. Remy has no obligation to jump out of the way - 99 times out of a 100 it's a penalty and red card. Because Remy was honest, did his best to jump over and try to score IMHO he deserved lots of credit.
True. But chav fans are a bit miffed. Even that muppet Jamie Redknapp said: he was too honest. If he had gone down, the pen would have definitely been given" This after all the so called pundits have screamed that dishonest players should be punished. Shouldn't they be applauding players honesty?
