You can't give a pen for denying a goalscoring opportunity when he then takes the opportunity. You can't give a foul if you admit there wasn't a foul.

Butland made himself as small as possible. Remy could have stepped over him. He probably didn't expect it and jumped unnecessarily but a penalty for the GK putting the striker off without fouling him is the end of the game.

Pretty sure there was no contact but Remy was obviously impeded by the attempted challenge.

Similar to Gerrard against Sheff United a few years ago... player came in and Gerrard had to jump over him and ende up losing the ball because of it. Pen was given in that case, although I'm sure all rival fans told us it was a dive and never a pen..

I would agree if he had a proper go at the opportunity. In this instance he was on the floor before he got to shoot with a man on the line when if butland hadnt tried to take him and the ball out he'd have a clear shot. As for Remy stepped over him, it was like a 110 metre hurdle!

true putting off a player is not a foul. Fair play to remy being honest but todays game requires dishonesty when it comes to earning penos much of the time.

As much as I enjoyed it I have to agree. Anywhere else on the field if a player slides in with speed and forces the player on the ball to jump from their standing position to avoid contact it would be a foul and a yellow. Keepers already have the advantage they can go with every part of the body. They should at least have to get their timing right.

Still think Remy did the right thing in trying to go on. Allows the manager a legitimate ref bitch for once.

    Still funny lol

They're going to have to ban Jose from the cities Chelsea play in as his next punishment. How the hell, at that distance, can he be expected to stop his staff giving legitimate treatment to injured players if it conflicts with the game's tactics?

All the talk of time to build and long contract is maybe the idea but Jose isnt playing..because he can't. He has no idea how to rebuild. He thought he could come in to this existing squad, have them buy a top class striker win a couple of leagues in 2 of the four years and leave with rep cemented. Problem being, the media are no longer charmed, the squad is no longer loyal and the staff were here longer than him....nobody believes his bullshit anymore so he is on the huff.

If Butland hadn't tried to get the ball he would have been on his line

Anyway unless Chelsea get relegated by 1 point it makes no difference, and will probably be more than evened out by the end of the season when Costa escapes yet another red card for assault

My thoughts too. Definitely a penalty and harsh that the ref has basically just promoted diving!!

If that happens next week he's going down. Shame really as if the penalty was given then honesty in the game would have won for once.

It couldn't have happened to a better team though :bandit:

If Remy hadn't stumbled but the ball hit a bad patch of grass and Remy sliced it over the bar, would it still be a penalty for forcing the player to shoot on a different patch of grass than if he hadn't tried to challenge him?

What if it didn't even bobble, but the keeper's failed challenge forced Remy to use his weaker foot and he missed because of that?

How much #blameculture do you want in the game? Remy ****ed up, but Chelsea were only in the game because Stoke ****ed up their 3-4 nailed on chances to kill the game

Chelsea were toothless, and ripped apart on the break

Hazard is selfish as **** and his touch has gone to ****

    Fabregas couldn't be arsed jogging

Willian's free kicks are the only chance Chelsea have to create goals

Costa is worth less than playing with 10 men

Baba is a massive waste of money

    Jose has no answers

    Remy is too honest

Just focus on fixing the last one though <ok>

That's a horrible image, both the missing the shot and the going down.

Do we think Mourinho will demote Remy to the office for being Naive and not understanding the game?

True or not, that club is in absolute chaos. Bad news followed by bad news. What a ****ing shambles. One moron spent all of last season claiming it was the best run club in England. It's like Wernham Hogg.
