On another note, I didn't know Elliot had it in him. And judging by his reaction to one of those saves, I don't think he did either.

I'll go as far as to say that the one that skidded up off the turf from the header is one that Krul would never have got. That's the sort of goal he regularly lets in.

I've said it for too long dummet is dreadful and you can't play anita and tiote in the middle it offers nothing either defensively or in attack and thats just the start because he's then playing am players out wide it's a recipe for disaster which even the foulest dinner lady couldn't produce.

Dummett did no worse that Janmaat today in my opinion. although I agree about Tiote and Anita. Anita was the worst player on the pitch today.

Dummett- 2 clean sheets in a row when he's back in defense. Speaks for itself.
McClaren's been playing almost a 4222 for the last few matches- admittedly it was the wrong strategy today and hopefully he'll learn not to rely on it next time. **** it- we won!

If Dummett had attempted the backpass that Janmaat did today he'd have been absolutely crucified on here. He did ok defending today despite being outnumbered on that wing for nearly all of the game. Made quite a few important headers and blocks, though he was given a torrid time when they kept loading up the wings and overlapping.

Just because somebody is a better player overall doesn't mean they will always play better. Same way just cos someone isn't good enough in an ideal world doesn't mean they can't have a good game. Too many people judge individual performances on what their impression is of a player overall. Janmaat was poor today for me (not the only one though).

Paul dummet isn't good enough if anyone thinks otherwise I'm absolutely astonished.

The main issue was tiote and anita just simply being there infront of our defence achieving nothing and guess what thats it until Christmas.

I think he is a good enough centre back to have a place in the squad as cover. He isn't good enough to be our first choice left back, but he's still a better left back than Haidara. Probably a better defender than Janmaat too who isn't a natural full back, but nowhere near as good an all round player.

<laugh> I think that's pushing it mate! I do agree that he's decent enough for now. though and may get better if he stays fit and in the team playing regularly

Wasn't trying to suggest he's a better player by any means, but just think he's better at tackling and heading than Janmaat is, and his defensive positioning is better too. Janmaat tends to dive in a bit and give away a lot of fouls, but that's got a lot to do with him being more of an attacking threat and often being caught out of position defensively - more of a wing back than a full back if you like.
