Yes, I was listening to the radio piece featuring DTLW and they were saying that Saints were suspect to crosses. Every team is suspect to crosses, that's why crosses are a dangerous tactic. But of the teams in the PL I would say that Saints are one of the least suspect. Jose and Virgil will head them away all day long.
In the same boat; these are the ones that always concern me, rational or no. Allardyce has no qualms about parking the bus at home, and even bad CBs can look better when surrounded by a pack of teammates. Now, we win our fair share of these games, but it does seem like quite a few turn into ground-out draws or 1-0 defeats...
Without doubt Saints have got to be the 'overcat' ( see the FA Cup thread) for this one. I'll go for 2-1 to us. Sadio Mane and Neil Shipperley to score.
Match day I'm on a flight at 12:30pm for 9 hrs so will be blissfuly unaware of the drama unfolding, but when I land the first thing I want to see is a nice win! COYR!!
I'm going to say 3-0 Saints. Not because I think Sunderland are that bad. I just think we'll sneak in one early and then they will be forced to play differently and it will screw them up. If we don't get that early goal it could be a tough slog.
I felt quite confident about this game until I read this thread. Ron would have been drumming home some very important messages this week in training and I would expect to see an all round improvement in our performance in terms of consistency. I don't usually predict results as that is a mugs game but I will go for an away win.
An early goal for Saints will change everything. I expect Big Sam to park the bus and hoof and hope Defoe or Johnson can score a break away goal for a 1-0 win. If we score early they will have to come out and play football and we know they are not very good at that especially now Big Sam is in charge as any real football is to be frowned upon 0-2 for me with lots of possession in our favour as we try and get passed the massed ranks of defenders
Yes, quite surprising how many of us, including me, have saintitas! We really should be quite confident of a good performance & 3 points but yep, old fears wear well. I bounce from a good win, to a hard well worked scrappy win, to a scrappy draw to a very disappointing lose on a very frequent hourly basis. And this thread certainly isn't helping Anyway, COYS. 3 points, please?
Very hard to type when sucking your thumb whilst humming to yourself and rocking backwards and forwards.
We perpetually water the pitch at SMS, so that won't bother us. Unless you mean it may be cancelled....noooooooooooooo!
If WHU lose to Everton by a couple of goals and we win by a couple of goals and Arsenal stuff Spurs....we could be fifth
I know but the sentence was difficult enough as it stood....we do need a few goals to jump over Spurs.
