I think you're right to feel uncomfortable. What's their jurisdiction.? Under whose and which laws do they operate.?
Murray wins entertaining 3 setter against Gasquet to make the Paris semi-finals. Murray did his usual hang dog, wet dish rag impression before turning it on just as his opponent thinks he has him.
Excellent! Yesterday's demolition of Goffin was brilliant but I don't think it's going to be that easy in the Davis Cup final! Isner or Ferrer up next for Andy.
He's got the final between the top 10 tennis players before the Davis Cup. Should do a Federer and develop a mysterious injury that clears up in time for the Davis Cup.
Yes, I know. Doubt whether he'll miss it because the ATP laid down the law a few weeks back when AM mentioned missing the Finals. It would look much too suspicious if he didn't appear now. Maybe he'll only give 99% instead
I see a hand made watch became the most expensive in the world when it came up for auction today. It made £13.4M at Sotheby's and went to an anonymous bidder. Called the Graves Supercomplication, after its owner and abilities, it was made by Patek Phillipe in the 1930's and took 8 years to build. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-30015601 If John Harrison's H4 ever came up for auction [it won't] it would dwarf that £13.4M figure several times over.
I know it must be dreadful for those holidaymakers stuck in Egypt, but it would be dangerous to send planes into that zone at the moment. I'm guessing they'll have to be moved by boat as that has been done before. But part of me asks what are they doing there? I decided to never go near a Muslim country after tourists were shot in Egypt years before, not even Turkey (and I proved wrong all those people who laughed at me and said how nice and safe Turkey was). Islamists can get you anywhere, but the chances are much greater in the region.
You need to get it in proportion, though. 1.24M worldwide deaths on the roads in 2010 (WHO numbers, latest year for which they have a figure). 13,186 worldwide deaths from terrorism in 2010 (Statista.com numbers). So 94 deaths on the roads per death from terrorism. Even taking the 2014 stats for terrorism (32,727) the ratio is 38:1. And the vast, hugely vast majority of those victims of terrorism are muslims in muslim countries rather than foreign visitors. Yet, despite that, I bet people would still happily get into an auto taxi in India (possibly the most dangerous thing I ever did on a regular basis) rather than go on holiday in Egypt. Risk is a strange thing. Vin
Wouldn't go to India either. Though that is mainly down to a seriously sensitive tummy...I'd get the lurgy if I even read a holiday brochure about India.
I won't step outside of Southampton these days in absolute fear of what is happening in the rest of the county let alone the country.
Crossing the roads in Southampton scares me, but then I'm from the Isle of Wight where you can saunter at will. They have a sign as you come off the ferries telling you Island Roads Are Different....actually it is pedestrians that are different
I went for an extended stay a few years ago. Decided I could either try to keep away from stomach bugs or just accept a miserable time while I adapted. I chose the latter and suffered for a fortnight. Then never had an attack again. Nor when I came back and for all the years since until I needed a massive dose of antibiotics a few weeks ago and, boom, my first stomach upset in 20 years started about a month later. Vin
Antibiotics clear out the good gut bacteria that are essential for a functioning digestive system and leave you open to problems. Pointless fact alert: Saw on the tv programme, Duck Quacks Don't Echo, that bacterial cells outnumber our own cells in our bodies.
