The Black Cats are unbeaten in six home games in all competitions versus the Saints (W3, D3), a run that stretches back to January 2003. Sunderland Sunderland have won only once in their last 14 Premier League games (D5, L8). The Black Cats have scored five goals in three games under Sam Allardyce. They had only scored eight in eight games before he arrived. No Premier League club has conceded more goals than the 25 let in by the Wearsiders, who have kept only one clean sheet. Sunderland have allowed their opponents 69 shots on target against them this season, more than any other team. Southampton Southampton are unbeaten in five league games (W3, D2). Despite an unbeaten away league record this season (W1, D4) Southampton have actually won just one of their last 12 on their travels. Just three of Graziano Pelle's 18 Premier League goals have been scored in away matches. Saints have scored a league-high six headed goals this season - twice as many as they did in the whole of 2014-15. Southampton have only lost once in all competitions when new signing Virgil van Dijk has played (W5, D3).
I can see us scoring, the problem, as you state it, it is likely the Saints will hit the back of the net a few times as well
I think it's fair to say Southampton will defo score. The question is, can we out score them? We've defo got goals in our team this season from various parts of the pitch which makes a change. I'd like to see Lens bought back in.
Great thread mate and 1-0 to Sunderland. Southampton will have plenty of the ball but Allardyce won't allow another 'Everton'. I can see it being similar to the Newcastle game and, once again, the supporters will have to be patient. If we have Kaboul & JOS back that'll help. Incidentally, it's nice to see Billy Jones winning people round ........ he's a decent player and seems keen to put a shift in.
Based on latest injury news. -----------Pantilimon---------- Yedlin---Oshea--Kaboul---Jones -------------Mvila--------------- Johnson-Larsson-Gomez-Borini ------------Fletcher------------- Mvila pulling the strings from deep, plenty of graft in the middle of the park and guile on the wings. Fletcher is in a bit of form so we need to get plenty of balls into him.
We don't score that many away, but we concede even fewer (4 so far). Stats would suggest this will be a low scoring game, along with SA looking for defensive stability; but it's intriguing as both teams could look to hit each other on the break, or you might looking ceed possession to us and remain compact, which we will have to be aware of after your last home game
Great to have our injured players back, its good news and we need it and them. Come on 1-0 and its party time at the SOL. Haway the Lads.
Great match thread as always Big Funk It's about time we had an 8-0 at home But I will settle for 1-0
Jones either side and hamstrings seem sorted, canny player, You can see a team coming together . Against Spurs and WHU we were great., just unlucky. Sam will tweak it We will win 2mo KTF !
Just leaving the house now to get picked up at Winchester by their coach ...... please don't anyone put the windows through Haway Sundeland, I hope the bus is as quiet as the grave all the way home but inside I'll be
Well done to you mate, signs of a top fan when you are prepared to travel with the enemy of the day to watch your team play, I salute you fella.. I have a good feeling about today, we might only get 30% possession but I can see us getting a couple of goals out of that. Going to have a few quid on the lads/Stoke double today.. Enjoy..
